Kick-start your experience with early access to exclusive programs run by UTS Law and the Law Students’ Society like the Brennan Program Summer Circle. Explore what university life has to offer, make friends and get ahead before classes begin.

Early access: Brennan Justice and Leadership Program

logo reads agents for social change

Passionate about social justice? So are we!

As a UTS Law student you are eligible to join the Brennan Justice and Leadership Program. This is where you can

  • use your legal knowledge and skills to make a big difference in the community
  • get involved in pro bono work
  • develop your leadership skills, and
  • get hands-on with real legal projects.

Your involvement counts towards achieving the Brennan Justice and Leadership Award, which is included on your transcript when you graduate and can make you stand out to employers.

The Brennan Program is a collaboration between UTS Law and the Law Students’ Society, and there’s no other program quite like it for law students in Australia.

Don't wait, get involved now

You'll love taking advantage of early access to the Brennan Program before you commence in 2024 with our Summer Circle initiative.

Each year we curate a range of films, tv shows, podcasts, documentaries and arts and cultural events for you to learn about social justice issues through short 350-word reflections.

Right now you can utilise these recommendations as sources for reflection and make progress towards the Reflections on Justice or Leadership Through Service components of the program. Yes, that's right, before you enrol in classes! Also, this year we've been gifted exclusive access to Videos for Change, where you're also eligible to participate early. Check out the Summer Circle FAQ here to learn more, and email  to get involved now. BrennanProgram@uts.edu.au

The Brennan Program has two parts:

Reflections on Justice (ROJ)

Opportunities to explore ideas of social justice and the law through guest speaker series, casual meet-ups and networking opportunities, and written activities on topics you are passionate about.

Leadership through Service (LTS)

Get involved in volunteering and pro bono work, putting your legal skills and knowledge into action in the real world.

00:00

The Brennan program is a free voluntary program driven by the ideals of justice

00:04

consciousness idealism and a sense of service. In accomplishing this award it

00:09

developed students capacity for professional and personal leadership and

00:13

service. Since 2011, the Brennan program has accrued over two thousand and fifty

00:18

members. My favorite part of it was probably the connections that I made and

00:21

the people that I met. My main goal in joining the Brennan program was to get

00:25

more involved in social justice. What I love about the Brennan program was I

00:28

really got to meet so many different people and do a wide range of tasks.

00:32

I was doing things from volunteering at immigration center, to helping the

00:36

elderly use IT. So if you're a UTS law student I would suggest that you just

00:40

give it a go. It's a fun engaging and diverse experience. Being surrounded by

00:45

people who are driven and who really care about social justice issues really

00:51

inspired me as well and it just reminded me that it's possible to create a better

00:54

world
