• Undergraduate Students

  You may be eligible for full session exchange (18-24 credit points) or short-term global experiences (6-12 credit points). Students undertaking a combined degree with business, except BCII and BIS, may be limited to the number of subjects they can undertake in the business component of the combined degree on exchange.

  Bachelor of Business  

  Required UTS subject completion prior to exchange:

  • At the point of application, you must complete all core subjects 22108, 21212, 23115, 26134, 25300/25400, 24108/24109, 22208 and 21214.

  Permitted exchange study:

  • You can undertake business electives towards SMJ08139, or academic subjects towards general electives.
  • If you have limited options, you can undertake electives on exchange towards your major(s) options, up to a maximum of 12 credit points (i.e. advanced elective subjects related to your major options). 
  • If you are enrolled in combined degrees with the Bachelor of Business, except for BCII and BIS, you must undertake 6-18 credit points from the other discipline (i.e. Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, etc.) to meet full-time enrolment at UTS.

  Restrictions:

  • You are not permitted to complete capstone subjects towards your major(s) on exchange (i.e. 24101, 24100, 22581, 23580, 25410, 21504, 21505 and 21506). 
  • In addition, the following subjects part of your major(s) must be completed at UTS: 24210 (MAJ08981 and MAJ08441), 22580 (MAJ08997), 21591 (MAJ08442), 25557 (MAJ08440), 21513 (MAJ08438) and 21512 (MAJ08446).
  • If you are completing an Accounting major, we do not recommend taking any subjects from the major on exchange, as it may affect accreditation.

  Bachelor of Management

  • must complete eight subjects (48 credit points) at the point of application to UTS Global Exchange
  • can undertake business electives towards SMJ08139 or academic subjects towards general electives
  • students are not permitted to complete capstone subject on exchange (i.e. 21698). In addition, the following subjects must be completed at UTS; 21699 (all students).

  Bachelor of Economics

  • must complete eight subjects (48 credit points) including 26134, 23506, 23566, 23508 and 23571 at the point of application to UTS Global Exchange and 23567 before exchange session
  • can undertake business electives towards SMJ08139 or academic subjects towards general electives
  • students with limited options will be permitted to undertake electives towards their Economics options (CBK91076) on exchange, up to a maximum of 12 credit points.
  • students are not permitted to complete capstone subjects towards their course or major on exchange (i.e. 23600, 24100, 22581, 23580, 25410, 21504 and 21505). In addition, the following subjects must be completed at UTS; 23509 (all students), 24210 (MAJ08441), 22580 (MAJ08997), 25557 (MAJ08440), 21513 (MAJ08438) and 21512 (MAJ08446).

• Postgraduate Students

  Due to curriculum restrictions, several courses are unsuitable for the full session exchange program, but you may participate in a short-term global experience.

  Graduate Certificate

  • Not eligible for full session exchange or short-term global experiences

  Graduate Diploma

  • Not eligible for full session exchange or short-term global experiences
  • Graduate Diploma of Business Administration - short-term global experience (6 credit points) for elective option only

  Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • You may be eligible for full session exchange (18-24 credit points) or short-term global experiences (6-12 credit points) for elective option only
  • You must complete a minimum of four core subjects at the point of application and eight subjects including core subjects 21880, 22800, 24834, 25799, and 23709 at the end of the session of application to UTS Global Exchange

  Master Courses

  • Not eligible for full session exchange but may participate in short-term global experiences (6-12 credit points) for elective option only

• Dual Degree Opportunity for MBA students

  In partnership with Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (WU), UTS Business School offers select MBA students the opportunity to complete a combined degree program. After completing the core subjects in the MBA course at UTS, students spend a year in Vienna completing the Master in Strategy, Innovation and Management Control. After successfully completing the program, participants receive two top-quality, internationally recognised degrees – the Master of Business Administration (C04018) from UTS and the Master in Strategy, Innovation, and Management Control from Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU).

  If you are looking for an alternative international opportunity within the MBA program, you can also choose to use electives to undertake global exchange at one of our 240 partner universities.

  Scholarship support is available from both universities - UTS Business School and WU offer scholarships to two UTS students per year.

• Business School Exchange Travel Grant

  UTS Business School may offer up to five (5) Exchange Travel Grants each session to support domestic students experiencing financial and/or other educational challenges in undertaking the global exchange program. 

  The grant amount may vary depending on the number of eligible applicants, with a maximum of five recipients receiving a minimum of $1,000 each per session. The grant cannot be deferred or transferred to another session.

  To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; or the holder of a Temporary Protection Visa; and
  • Be admitted and currently enrolled in a UTS Business undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree through the UTS Educational Access Schemes, demonstrating financial disadvantage. Refer to the details in the Condition of Award.
  • Be selected to undertake a UTS Global Exchange, accepted by a UTS Exchange Partner Institution; and 
  • Be enrolled in 18 – 24 credit points of UTS Exchange Subjects (at least 18cp of the UTS Exchange Subjects must contribute to any UTS Business School undergraduate or postgraduate course); and
  • No record of student misconduct.

  Submit your application for Exchange Travel Grant

  Each applicant will be assessed by the Selection Committee, where the committee will determine the ranking principles for that session based on the relative needs of applicants and with priority given to applicants with multiple educational disadvantages. If two or more applicants have the same weighted average mark, recipients will be selected based on the highest average mark achieved in the last 24 credit points of completed business subjects.

  Applications for Exchange grant are required. Students must not be in receipt of any other scholarship, cadetship or bursary. This excludes the Global Exchange Scholarship offered by UTS Global Exchange, which students may receive simultaneously/concurrently.

  Students will be contacted at the time of nomination if they have been awarded a scholarship. Payment of the travel grant will be made into the recipient's nominated bank account after the census date for the respective session.
