Elena is an early-career researcher focusing on the application of participatory modelling and serious games in the field of sustainable development.
Elena completed a bachelor degree in Economics (2011) in Russia and a master degree in systems dynamics and business administration (2013) in Europe as part of the Erasmus Mundus program of the European Commission. During the master degree studies, her main focus was on the application of system dynamics and participatory modelling on energy policy issues (renewable energy and energy efficiency). Elena was involved in applied research team projects with PBL (the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency) and EDP (major Portuguese energy company).
After the graduation, she came back to Russia where in cooperation with another colleague from European studies she launched consultancy and education services in the field of participatory modelling and systems thinking. The implemented projects were connected with waste management, food security topics and non-profit sector performance in Russia. Starting from 2014 Elena worked in the position of junior research fellow at Management Modeling Laboratory at Moscow State University for one and a half years.
In 2016 Elena was invited to join the team of the Department for Strategy and Industrial Cooperation in one of the innovative Russian Universities - Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). During the three years spent in Skoltech, she has prepared a range of analytical materials on biotech applications in agriculture and built relationships with leading Russian agricultural and breeding companies that have led to joint R&D projects.
In 2019 Elena has started her PhD research at the School of Information, Systems and Modelling (ISM) of UTS.
