Does it cost anything to apply?
No! It’s free to apply for the UTS Early Entry Program.
What student number and pin do I need to provide at the start of the application?
If you’re a NSW student, you will need to use your NESA number and pin (pro tip: this is different to your school student number and your UAC number). For IB students you need to use your personal code, which has letters at the beginning.
Your pin is usually the first four digits of your date of birth. For example, if your date of birth is 03/10/2005, your PIN is 0310.
If you’re applying as an interstate student, you can use the below as a guide: ACT: 7 digit number assigned by the ACT BSSSVCE: 8 digit number and 1 letter at the end eg. 12345678BQCE: 10 digit number SACE: 6 digit number and 1 letter at the end eg. 123456BNTCE: 6 digit number and 1 letter at the end eg. 123456BWACE: 8 digit number TCE: A combination of numbers and letters. e.g. 12B3456, 12B34567, S9231067 or 00A10464

For interstate students, you will need to provide your results through the UTS Early Entry Program Year 11 Results form (PDF).
When assessing Year 11 results, will certain subjects be given extra weighting?
No, UTS will be looking at your performance overall in Year 11. No subjects will be weighted higher.
Why are some courses excluded from the Early Entry Program?
Due to the high demand for certain courses such as Midwifery, they are not included in the Early Entry Program. Our Co-op scholarships are excluded as they have a separate application process.
Can I apply for multiple courses?
Yes. You can preference up to three courses in your application. If you meet the eligibility requirements, an offer will be made to your highest eligible preference and only one offer will be made per application.
Preferences and offer process
How should I order my preferences?
We encourage you to put the course that you are most interested in as your first preference, as we make offers based on your highest eligible preference.
I have changed my mind about which course I want to do, but I’ve already applied. Can I change my preference?
Yes, you can change your preferences up until the application closing date (4 September 2023, 11.59pm).
How will I know if I have received an offer?

- 80 ATAR for Law courses
- 75 ATAR for Health courses

- 69 ATAR for all other courses

- 75 ATAR for Health courses
- 70 ATAR for Education courses
- 69 ATAR for all other courses
Will UTS consider my Year 12 results as part of the Early Entry Program as my Year 11 was also impacted by COVID?
The Early Entry Program only considers Year 11 results when assessing applications.
However, we understand some students are concerned their Year 11 results might not be a true reflection of their academic achievements due to the impact of COVID-19 and encourage you to also apply for our Schools Recommendation Scheme.
What are the next steps after receiving my provisional offer?
Congratulations on receiving an offer! You should have received an email from UTS which will contain instructions on how to accept your offer. You can also access the START portal, which you will help you begin your UTS journey.
If you need any assistance with accepting your offer, or enrolling into your course, please contact us at ASK UTS.
I'm not ready to accept my offer, when is the deadline to accept my Early Entry offer?
Don't worry, you'll have until 4 March 2024 to accept your Early Entry offer. Once you're ready, we recommend that you accept your offer and start the enrolment process as soon as possible to avoid missing out on your preferred classes as they can fill quickly. However, you can complete your enrolment any time before orientation starts in 2024.
What are my options if I do not receive an offer?
Don’t stress as there are other admission options available to you to study at UTS. We recommend that you preference UTS in your UAC application for consideration in the UAC offer rounds. The first offer round for school leavers will be UAC December Round 2. UAC applications are assessed on different criteria to the Early Entry Program, including your Year 12 ATAR, and take into consideration any adjustment factors you may be eligible for.
Can I receive more than one offer under this scheme?
No. You can only receive one offer under this scheme.
If I receive early offers from other universities, will that impact my ability to receive early offers from UTS?
No, receiving an early offer from another institution will not stop you from receiving an early offer from UTS.
If I receive an early offer from UTS, can I still be eligible for offers via UAC?
Yes! The Early Entry Program and the UAC offer rounds are different. You can get an offer through the UTS Early Entry Program and also receive offers in the UAC offer rounds. In UAC offers will be based on your Year 12 results and eligible adjustment factors.
Can I defer my offer?
Yes, you can in most cases. Learn more about our process for deferring your offer.
How are Early Entry applications assessed?
Early Entry applications are assessed on Year 11 results. Each course that is available through the Early Entry Program has a threshold rank. The course threshold rank is determined by supply and demand. So, if there is high demand (i.e. applications) for a course and limited supply of places, the course threshold rank will be higher in comparison to courses that might have larger supply of places. Your Year 11 results are converted into a rank which is assessed against the course threshold rank.
Also, preferencing is an important part of your application. We use a preferential offer system which means we look at your preferences as if it is an offer wishlist. Here’s an example: if both John and Sam preference a Bachelor of Business, but John has preferenced a Bachelor of Business second and Sam has preferenced a Bachelor of Business third, John will be considered for a Bachelor of Business before Sam, as he has preferenced it higher.
And don't forget! These are not the only offers UTS will be making to school leavers. UTS has ensured that we have places available for school leavers in the UAC rounds. As these are early offers, we encourage students to participate in the UAC rounds from December Round 2. In UAC you will be assessed on your selection rank based on your Year 12 results and any adjustment factors you might be eligible for.
Adjustment factors
Am I eligible for adjustment factors if I receive an offer? Are adjustment factors considered in the UTS Early Entry Program?
No, for the majority of courses you will be considered for an offer based on your Year 11 results and meeting the ATAR requirement for your course.
For students interested in the Faculty of Engineering and IT courses, you have the option to apply for the Early Entry Program - Edge which includes adjustment points. For female students interested in courses in construction project management, you will be eligible for 10 adjustment points.
Do I need to submit a questionnaire for Edge points?
No, for the 2024 intake, students are not required to submit a questionnaire. As part of our effort to simplify the early entry application process for our students, we've removed the questionnaire requirement.
Does UTS provide adjustment points for females interested in studying Engineering, IT or construction management courses?
Yes, as part of UTS' initiatives to support greater female participation in key industries of the future, we offer 10 adjustment points.
Other early entry schemes
Does UTS offer any faculty-specific schemes for early entry?
We certainly do. For students interested in the Faculty of Engineering and IT courses, check out the Early Entry Program - Edge.
I’m also interested in applying for the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS). Do I still need to put in a separate application?
Yes! The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) and the Early Entry Program are different and if you wish to apply for both, you will need to submit two applications, one is direct to UTS, while the other is via UAC. While both award early entry offers, there are differences.
What’s the difference between the Early Entry program and the early entry through the SRS Equity Stream?
The SRS Equity Stream is focused on supporting students who have the potential to succeed at uni, but who may have suffered disadvantage, impacting their school results. If you think you might be eligible, we’d strongly recommend you apply. You will need to apply through UAC for this scheme and must also be eligible for the Educational Access Scheme (EAS).
The Early Entry Program is a merit scheme and focuses on rewarding students who have performed well in Year 11 and this is reflected in their Year 11 results. Unlike the SRS scheme, you will submit your application through the UTS application portal.
