Recognising students for more than their Year 12 performance
The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) lets Year 12 students access university when their ATAR alone isn't sufficient, based on a recommendation from their school principal or careers advisor.
To apply, you must have experienced socio-economic disadvantage, school environment or financial hardship.
Key dates
- Applications for Autumn 2027 close on Friday 11 September 2026.
- You must have a UTS preference included within your Universities Admission Centre (UAC) application by Thursday 5 November 2026.
- Conditional and unconditional offers are made on Thursday 12 November 2026.
- Full offers will be released on Wednesday 23 December 2025 to eligible students who received a conditional offer.

To be eligible for the SRS, you need to be:
- a current Year 12 student and have applied for undergraduate study through UAC
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia (including those with an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa).
You will need to be eligible for under at least one of the educational access schemes (EAS) circumstances through UAC:

- financial support
- regional school (You went to a rural, regional or remote school during Year 11 and/or 12)
Additionally, you must:
- have your school principal or careers advisor rate your SRS application
- include a UTS preference within your UAC application. The following courses are excluded:
- Bachelor of Accounting
- Bachelor of Cybersecurity (IDeA)
- Bachelor of Computing Science

If you are not sure whether you are eligible for the SRS, please contact at 1300 275 887 or submit an enquiry.
How do you apply for the SRS?
To apply, you must first submit your application to study through UAC. All applications need to go through UAC to be considered.
You may need to complete an EAS application, depending on the circumstances that affected your schooling:
- If you are applying due to the regional school or financial support circumstances, you will need to complete an EAS application. Visit how to apply for the Educational Access Scheme (Opens external site) for step-by-step instructions.
- You will not need to complete an EAS application for the socio-economic indexes for areas (SEIFA) circumstance. It is automatically applied to your UAC application using your residential address.
When are offers made?
SRS Unconditional offers
We will make a limited number of unconditional (guaranteed) SRS offers to applicants that meet the SRS eligibility based on Year 11 studies. Unconditional offers are made in November Round 1. You do not need to achieve a minimum ATAR to receive an unconditional offer.
SRS Conditional offer
Conditional offers are made in November Round 1. These offers will become unconditional (full) offers following the ATAR release and meeting the minimum ATAR requirement, and any other conditions specified. The ATAR minimum requirement is 60, or 71 for Law courses.
To receive your full offer, you must have your UTS course preference as your highest eligible preference in your UAC application. Full offers will be released to eligible students in December Round 2.
