Measuring our impact

Social justice is central to UTS’s role as a public university, shaping our purpose, priorities and relationships with communities.

The UTS Social Impact Framework (SIF) gives expression to this identity. It brings together our shared values and commitments to articulate how UTS contributes to positive social change across research, education, student experience and institutional practice.

The SIF is both:

  • an aspirational guide for advancing UTS’s social justice commitments
  • a practical framework to support planning, alignment and accountability for social impact.

It provides a shared structure that helps faculties, divisions and individuals articulate how their work contributes to positive social change.

Social Impact Dashboards

While the relationship between education and public purpose is fundamental to the higher education sector, robust models to gauge social impact are scarce.

By adding social impact measurement alongside research output and rankings in how we measure our success, the Social Impact Framework (SIF) holds us accountable for delivering tangible outcomes for people and communities.

Meanwhile our Social Impact Dashboards measure that impact by collating data that reflects our contributions to public good. We share this data openly with our staff, students and community.
