Be the change you want to see

Icon - Person pointing at themself

Go beyond the academic curriculum and develop your leadership skills with our Brennan Justice and Leadership Program. Think volunteer work such as tutoring school students, mentoring Indigenous youth and helping compile information for NGOs. Students who complete the required service hours will qualify for the Brennan Justice and Leadership Award.

Study a law tech major and be ready for the future of work

Icon - Transferable skills

The profession of law is changing and so is the way we teach it. The Legal Futures and Technology Major will equip you with the skills to work with disruptive technologies like AI, bitcoin, blockchain and smart contracts – and understand its impact on the law. Further to this, students can connect with events, activities and our leading academic researchers through our annual Tech + Social Justice Week. You can explore more about UTS Law and Tech on our website.

Join the UTS Law Student Society

Icon - People centred

Be part of the largest student-run society on campus. You’ll have the chance to meet fellow law students outside of the classroom and gain some serious social cred at events like the Law Cruise, First Year Orientation Camp and Law Ball. They even offer a range of services like a buddy program, industry mentoring programs, subject tutoring, mooting competitions, networking workshops and clerkship series.

Industry partnerships

Icon - Professional development

We’re living in a complex world and organisations today face increasing challenges to stay in business. Over the years, UTS Law has partnered with top tier law firms such as Allens and King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) to offer students the opportunity to engage in hackathons, law tech challenges and much more.

Designed for go-getter students who are passionate about solving legal and commercial problems through innovation, you’ll work in teams and pitch ideas to a panel of judges. Not only is it a great experience to add to your resume, but you get first-hand insight into what law firms are looking for in future lawyers. To add to this, UTS Law offers an extensive local and international law internship program which you can enrol in and gain credit towards your degree.

Compete in International Moot Courts

Icon - First contact

At UTS, you can participate in international and local moots. We’ve sent students to the United Kingdom for the Oxford International Property Moot and Washington D.C for the esteemed Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Mooting is where you practice your legal research, writing, teamwork and oral presentation before a judge. These skills are crucial in the legal profession and can set you up for an exciting future in local or international law. When you enrol at UTS, the first step in your mooting journey is with the UTS Law Students’ Society who run mooting competitions at a junior level and skills workshops to improve year on year. Getting involved early is the best step in your mooting success!

Go global

Icon - Global

Don’t limit yourself to the UTS campus. From student exchange and study abroad opportunities in more than 40 countries to global studios and international leadership programs with UTS BUILD, the only thing standing between you and la vida loca is… well, you!

Aim for the stars

Icon of a medal

Get the recognition you deserve through a variety of annual subject-based prizes and extra-curricular awards. High achieving law students are recognised and invited to the annual Law Awards Night and Dean’s Merit List ceremony.

Look after you

Studying can be challenging, so it's crucial to prioritize your health and wellbeing. At UTS Law, we provide a vibrant and inclusive environment to support your learning journey. Our comprehensive support system includes various services and dedicated pastoral care led by the UTS Director of Students.

Throughout your time at UTS Law, you'll have access to tailored programs, events, and initiatives designed to enhance your mental and physical wellbeing, as well as support your educational and career ambitions. This includes services like UTS Counselling and Accessibility Services, programs offered by Activate UTS, and UTS Careers.

As an added bonus, each session, UTS LSS organizes a Smile Week Project where you can even spend time with adorable therapy dogs on campus!
