What did you do before you started your course?
I took a gap year after high school and decided to get a taste for nursing by working as an AIN in a nursing home which was fantastic and helped me confirm that nursing is where I want to end up.
What motivated you to study this course?
I'm a people person, who enjoys helping others and was looking for a course that would provide a career when I finish. Nursing was the perfect choice.
Why did you choose UTS?
The staff and information at Open Day made the choice easy. As soon as I walked in I knew UTS was where I wanted to study.
What is it like to study at UTS?
It is so much fun and really hands on which I enjoy. Everything you learn is industry relevant and taught by the top people in the nursing profession.
What do you most enjoy about your course?
I love all the clinical experience. I have been privileged to learn from some amazing nurses in both the uni and clinical setting and have learnt so much in the two years I have been studying.
Is there any advice you would give to students studying this degree?
Take advantage of every opportunity. Don't be afraid to ask questions and while it may seem boring, offering to do and extra bed or set of obs can result in an RN putting in the extra effort to demonstrate or explain a procedure, this can be reward for the student and may not have been required of the RN.
What would you like to do once you complete your degree?
I would like to stick to adults in the acute hospital setting, but whether that be in the Emergency Room or refining my skills on a ward remains to be seen.
