• 1. Your responsibilities

  UTS Global Mobility programs work by us maintaining great partnerships globally. As a participant in the programs, you must be aware of your responsibilities.

  • You are expected to be of good character and be prepared to be an excellent ambassador for UTS while on your experience. UTS Student Rules apply while you’re on our programs, alongside the host university or partner’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
  • Host country laws apply to you while on your experience. These may differ from Australia.
  • Study is the primary component of your overseas program. You must complete all parts of the overseas program as requested by UTS and host university to receive academic credit.
  • You are responsible for personal expenses related to your program, including but not limited to host location accommodation, flights, visas, and health requirements. Some host destinations may have non-tuition related charges for which you are liable, i.e., insurance, student unions and amenities fees, etc.
  • If you are a scholarship or travel grant recipient, there are additional conditions and requirements which will be explained to you upon offer of this additional funding.
  • If you have pre-existing medical conditions, you will need to seek a ‘fit to fly’ certificate from your treating physician to undertake your proposed travel - within 5 days of commencing the travel. This document is for your personal records.
  • If you require accessibility and support services overseas, this information should be provide to your Global Mobility Programs officer so they may verify options and supports available at the host destination.

• 2. UTS support

  The Global Mobility Program will offer a range of services and support to assist with your application, nomination and endorsement to study at one our global partners. These include the UTS CareerHub workflow and MoveON Application portal.

  If you are nominated or endorsed for our programs, we aim to ensure you have a safe, supported, valuable study experience credited towards your UTS program.

  For your safety during the Global Mobility program, UTS will offer you International SOS emergency support and UTS travel insurance coverage while studying overseas.

  UTS will provide a compulsory pre-departure session before your program. You will be prepared for your intercultural experience through meeting other participants going on the program, learning about the services and supports available, and receiving information on what to do in emergency situations.

• 3. Your studies

  Most UTS Global Mobility Programs are for academic credit toward your UTS program. To be successful, you’ll need to be ready, prepared and responsible. You may be required to think on your feet and pivot when the situation requires.

  You are responsible for checking that your study plan has space for the global experience to be credited towards your UTS program.

  For Global Exchange:

  • Students must study equivalent to 18-24cp overseas at the host institution to be credited towards the requirements of their UTS program.
  • Students are not permitted to study online UTS subjects whilst overseas on exchange.

  For Global Short Programs:

  • Students are permitted to complete programs for academic credit or not-for-credit. Students completing a not-for-credit program are ineligible for financial assistance.

  You may only participate if your study plan is approved by your Faculty, the host university or provider, and UTS Global Mobility programs.

  For a valuable global experience, the UTS CareerHub workflow and Application Portal provide detailed and in-depth information to guide you through the application process.

• 4. Returning home

  Upon completion of your overseas program, you are required to complete the feedback survey for your exchange transcript to be processed and results to be updated for your UTS program.

  UTS Global Mobility Programs participants who have received financial assistance from UTS Global Mobility must act as an ambassador to the program. You may share your stories with others on our UTS Think Global blog or via #utsthinkglobal Instagram during or after your experience. Consent will be obtained before content is published.

  You must submit the Feedback Survey and attend at least one return-to-home activity, such as the Think Global Fair or promotional event, to share your experience with others.

• 5. Your privacy

  UTS will respect and protect your privacy and handle your information as a UTS Global Mobility Program participant as noted below:

  • In applying for a Global Mobility Program, UTS collects your personal information, including contact details, relevant documents and details of previous study, including any previous sanctions or misconduct. Some of this information may be sourced from, or verified with, existing records held by UTS. Your information will only be used by UTS and the nominated host institution to consider and process your application and manage your involvement where successful. UTS will also use information for quality improvement and planning processes.
  • As part of approved arrangements, information about your application, enrolment, progress in your course, results, and any alleged misconduct or behavioural issues arising during these arrangements, will be shared between UTS and your host university. Your information may also be disclosed to the Australian Government and designated agencies and authorities where required for compliance with legislation, including the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (Cth). UTS will not disclose information relating to your application to external parties further to this privacy notice or the UTS Student Declaration, unless required or permitted by law.
  • Information relating to your application and participation in these programs will be primarily stored in MoveON. MoveON is a cloud-based system with data held in the United Kingdom under contract with UTS. Records relating to applications will be retained in line with the university’s records management policy.
  • Any request you may have to access, correct, delete, transfer your information, or withdraw your application (if lawful) should be referred to the Global Mobility Programs Team.   • If you provide inaccurate or incomplete information, or you withdraw your consent for UTS to use and process your information, UTS may not be able to process your application.

• 6. Respectful Behaviour and Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Harassment – PSEAH policy

  As a UTS student you have already completed the Consent Matters training, and understand that UTS values principles of mutual respect and inclusion in providing for a safe environment for participants in all programs (refer to our Equity, Inclusion and Respect Policy).

  All UTS Global Mobility Programs are compliant with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy (PSEAH). Find out more at DFAT PSEAH site (opens external site).

  As a participant in the UTS global mobility program, you will need to accept the expectations and requirements of the PSEAH policy. Further information on PSEAH and reporting an incident will be provided at Global Mobility Program pre-departure events and materials.

  If you experience or witness gender-based violence while on a global mobility program, you can seek support from a UTS safety caseworker.
