How to apply for an exchange semester abroad
To go on Global Exchange, you must apply to and be accepted by both UTS and the host university.
The application process takes place a year-in-advance. For example, if you plan to go for exchange during UTS Autumn 2027, you apply during the UTS Autumn 2026 session.
Here's a summary of the UTS Global Exchange application process:
- Check your eligibility and timing for your degree.
- Register on CareerHub for the Global Exchange workflow.
- Submit your online application by the deadline.
- Receive your outcome and host university allocation.
- Apply to the host university and prepare for exchange.
Register for global exchange
The last day to register for exchange in Autumn 2027 is 12 June 2026.
Eligibility criteria
Most UTS students can go on exchange through the UTS global exchange program. Some additional restrictions, including minimum academic requirements and when you can go in your degree, may also apply to you.
To participate in the UTS Global Exchange program, you must:
- Meet the academic criteria for exchange (see below)
- Not have any active sanctions against your enrolment
- Be deemed suitable to represent the university overseas by UTS International
Recommended timing and course restrictions
In general, when you meet the criteria above, you can go on exchange in the timeframe recommended by the faculty for your course. However, some courses have additional criteria for when you can go on exchange.
Note that restrictions are subject to change. You can find up-to-date study plan information in the global exchange workflow.
