Funding options
We understand that studying and living overseas can be expensive. To help make your exchange and short programs experience more achievable, UTS offers a variety of scholarships to support your travel and living costs.
You can also apply for the OS‑HELP loan, a government loan designed to help eligible students fund their overseas study. Check your eligibility and explore the scholarships, grants and OS‑HELP loan options available to support your international experience.

OS-HELP Loans
Students going on a global program can also apply for an OS-HELP loan (opens external site).
This is a loan from the Australian Government for students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) who want to study part of their course overseas.
OS-HELP loans are indexed and need to be paid back to the Commonwealth after the completion of your studies via the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), along with your HELP debt.
Centrelink payments
If you receive Centrelink benefits, notify Centrelink of your overseas travel before leaving Australia, even if your program is not for credit. Make sure you review the conditions that may affect your Centrelink Benefit while travelling overseas (opens an external site)
Once you complete your pre-departure tasks for your global exchange or short program, the Mobility team will provide a letter for you to submit to Centrelink to confirm your travel and program participation.
