Leanne Kelly awarded Midwifery Mentor of the Year
Leanne Kelly from Royal North Shore Hospital has been awarded the UTS Midwifery Mentor of the Year award for her outstanding support to UTS Midwifery students during their clinical placements this year.
Leanne is a former UTS Midwifery student who graduated in 2014 and was nominated by a number of students who all agreed that her kind-hearted nature in the daily care of her patients was truly inspiring.
“Leanne was always happy to teach and debrief us at any time,” one student wrote in their nomination. “She almost seemed excited when she was paired with us. Leanne made us all feel valued and appreciated.”
The UTS Midwifery Mentor of the Year award was initiated in 2012 to recognise and applaud the work of midwives working alongside our students during clinical placement.
As winner of this award, Leanne now has the opportunity to attend the NSW Midwifery Conference next year in Wollongong.
Congratulations to Leanne and to all clinical educators who were recognised on the day for their inspiring support to UTS Midwifery students on clinical placement.
