The UTS Climate Change and Health Research Collaborative (CCHRC) brings leading academics from health, science, engineering, IT, law and the built environment, together with industry leaders to identify innovative solutions to address the impacts of climate change on health and wellbeing.

Climate change is the biggest health threat to humanity. The rise in global temperature has direct and indirect impacts on health and wellbeing that most affect vulnerable populations. Forced migration, including the number of refugees and internally displaced people, will likely increase as a result of extreme weather events and environmental change that will have implications for sustainable livelihoods and health outcomes.

The CCHRC takes a multi-disciplinary approach to reducing the risk of climate change related health outcomes across the lifespan. The collaborative focuses on building health system resilience to deliver care services and information for optimal health and wellbeing.

Consistent with the World Health Organization guidance the CCHRC will translate research into evidence-based guidance and tools to improve climate-sensitive health outcomes and the resilience of health systems. The CCHRC will focus on strengthening the capacity of all countries, in particular developing countries, for disaster preparedness, risk reduction and management of national and global health risks.
