UTS Journalism Alumni wins 2018 Kennedy Award
Three finalists in this year’s 7th Annual NRMA Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism all studied Journalism at UTS. Lucy Cormack, Sam Buckingham-Jones and Taylor Auerbach were chosen for the 2018 Young Journalist of the Year category. Sydney Morning Herald Crime Reporter, Lucy Cormack, was the winner of the prestigious award.
It's no small thing to be nominated for a journalism award. So to see three UTS alumni taking all three finalist positions is an extraordinary testament to their talent and tenacity and to the depth of teaching within UTS journalism. I congratulate all the finalists and Lucy for the win - and I say thanks to our lecturers and tutors who pour all they have into the next generation of journalists. - Professor Monica Attard, OAM and Head of Journalism
The NRMA Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism recognise Australia's most respected journalists. Produced by the Kennedy Foundation, the inaugural event raises funds and awareness for colleagues in hardship, with compassion in confidence, while promoting excellence in journalism.
The awards encourage competitors to enter their work in multiple categories for consideration by an expert panel of judges.
