Global Short Programs

• Have achieved a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 55
• Be on track to complete one year of full-time undergraduate studies (48cp) before the start of your program

If you are a postgraduate student, your application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and you will not be eligible for any scholarships.

Program requirements

• Some programs may have additional eligibility criteria. For example, some programs can only be completed for academic credit
• Refer to your preferred program profiles on the global short programs database and check the eligibility criteria in the program details

Requirements for financial assistance

• Some programs offer specific types of financial assistance that have additional eligibility criteria
• If you choose one of these programs, you must meet both the general eligibility criteria (listed above) and the additional requirements for the available scholarship

Global short programs typically range from 2-6 weeks in length during the Summer (December to February) and Winter (June/July) session breaks.

Each program will have their own specific dates, which will be listed on the global short programs database shortly before applications open for winter or summer programs. Students can only complete programs during the approved dates.

All global short programs are approved by faculties for eligible students to receive academic credit. To receive academic credit, you need to make sure you have room in your study plan. We recommend saving any free electives for a global short program!

If you don’t have space in your study plan to take a program for academic credit, you may be able to participate in a program without earning credit.

If you only have one subject left in your course, you might be able to use it for a short program. However, you need to consider the following:

• You will risk your graduation being delayed
• You won't be eligible for an OS HELP loan

Yes, students can complete more than one short program if they have space in their UTS study plan and they meet the eligibility criteria.

Students must have a valid passport and, for some countries, a student visa. Visit the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website (opens an external site) to learn more about visas and to find your nearest embassy or consulate. 
    
If you are an international student, you may need to apply for a student visa for your exchange host country from your home country. Contact the embassy or consulate of your host country to find out more.

Students are responsible for arranging their flights and accommodation.

Accommodation options will vary depending on the program. Some programs will have accommodation included while others require students to arrange their own accommodation.
