William graduated from the University of New South Wales with a B.Ec. in Economics and Finance, from the University of Sydney with a M.Ec. in Economics and Econometrics and from Fudan University (Shanghai, China) with a M.Ec. in World Economy where he was the valedictorian and awarded the Dean’s First Prize Scholarship Award (2021-2022). At Fudan William investigated the impact of the first Trump Administration’s tariffs on the Chinese labor market, especially with regards to incidents of labor strikes.
William’s current work focuses on the marriage markets in developing countries, in particular on underage marriage and polygamy, and the intersection with income, culture, religion and armed conflict.
William is most interested in development economics, political economy, national security, armed conflicts, and health. William focuses on using statistical inference to uncover causal relationships as well as structural modelling of agent’s behaviours.
