Gain international perspectives from the comfort of your own home!
UTS is excited to offer you an opportunity to participate in the Virtual Global Short Programs, making this an integral part of your degree and a complement to the programs that require physical travel overseas.
Want to obtain an international experience during your studies at UTS to boost your employability, but can't travel overseas due to study, personal or work commitments? Looking for an affordable international program? Don’t have space in your degree to do for-credit programs? We’ve got you covered with Virtual Global Short Programs!
Virtual programs range from summer/winter schools at partner universities to international internships. Please see our program database for the full range of virtual programs available for Winter 2020. All our virtual programs are supported and endorsed by UTS faculties and therefore, if eligible, you may receive academic credit towards your degree at UTS and a scholarship to cover program fees.

How to apply
If you are interested in completing a virtual Global Short Program, you must follow the below steps to apply for the experience:
Step 1: Research all program offerings posted on our program database. You must carefully read the description of the program before applying to make sure that you meet the individual program’s eligibility criteria and that you have understood the requirements to apply.
Step 2: If you wish to receive academic credit, you must complete the Academic Credit Assessment Form and submit this via eRequest to have your study plan assessed by the Student Centre. When submitting this form you must use the “I want to enrol in a Global Short Program subject” eRequest type. Don’t have space in your study plan to take this for credit? Some of our programs can be taken ‘not-for-credit'! Please refer to individual program descriptions for more information.
Step 3. When you receive your completed Academic Credit Assessment Form back from the Student Centre, you will need to apply for a Virtual Global Short Program. You must wait to receive this form back before submitting your application to us as this form must be attached to your application.
Once you have submitted your application to the Global Short Programs team, we will begin assessing your eligibility to complete the program and to receive financial support to do so. If you are deemed eligible to complete the program, we will send you an offer letter containing steps to accept your offer.
These steps will include:
Agreeing to Terms & Conditions
Applying to the Program Provider. DO NOT apply before you have received your outcome from Global Short Programs. We will provide you with accurate instructions on how to apply as a UTS approved student.
Attending a virtual ‘pre-experience’ preparation workshop with Global Short Programs team
Following instructions to finalise enrolment into your approved subject (if applicable)
Update your banking details if you have been offered financial assistance
Once you have finished your program, you will need to complete some steps as a condition of our offer of support. These will include:
Writing a blog post for the Think Global blog (coming soon!) and creating social media content for the Global Short Programs Instagram account. This content will focus on the experiences you have had while completing your Virtual Global Short Program.
Completing a short feedback form allowing us to review the application process and the program that you have completed.
In order to launch our exciting range of new Virtual Global Short Program experiences, we are offering a limited number of full scholarships available to eligible students. Please note that these full scholarships are only applicable to Winter 2020. Virtual Global Programs Scholarships will continue to be granted in future sessions, but with a different value to Winter 2020 study session.
