Virtual programs include summer/winter schools at partner universities, international internships, cultural immersion experiences and various other opportunities. Please see our program database for the full range of virtual programs available. All our virtual programs are supported and endorsed by UTS faculties and therefore, if eligible, you may receive academic credit towards your degree at UTS and a scholarship to help with program fees.

When applying for UTS approved Virtual Global Short Programs, you must ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for your preferred program. Please refer to our eligibility criteria for more information
How to apply
If you are interested in completing a Virtual Global Short Program please follow the application steps below:
Step 1: Look through the programs listed on our program database and carefully read the program descriptions. Before you apply to a program make sure you have read and understood the program's individual eligibility criteria and application requirements and steps.
Step 2: Complete the Academic Credit Assessment Form if you wish to apply for academic credit for your program. This form will be used by the Student Centre to assess your study plan.
Step 3: Submit your form via eRequest, using the Global Short Program eRequest category.
Step 4: Wait for your form to be reviewed by the Student Centre. Do not submit a program application until you receive your completed Academic Credit Assessment Form back. The outcome of this e-request will contain your academic credit eligibility.
Step 5: Once you have received your completed Academic Credit Assessment Form back from the Student Centre, apply for a program. You can apply for a program by going to the program database and clicking on the application link within the program description.
Note: Don’t have space in your study plan to take this for credit? Some of our programs can be taken ‘not-for-credit'! Please refer to individual program descriptions for more information.
Step 6. Wait for your application to be assessed by the Global Short Programs team. After your program application is submitted the Global Short Programs team will begin assessing your eligibility to complete the program you have applied for. We will also assess your eligibility for financial support. If you are deemed eligible to complete the program the team will send you an offer letter containing important steps you need to complete.
Step 7: If you are sent an offer letter, complete the steps needed to accept the offer of support.

Agreeing to Terms & Conditions
Applying to the program provider. Do not apply to the program provider before you have received your outcome from Global Short Programs. The team will provide you with accurate instructions on how to apply as a UTS approved student.
Attending a virtual ‘pre-experience’ preparation workshop led by the Global Short Programs team
Following instructions to finalise enrolment into your approved subject (if applicable)
Update your banking details if you have been offered financial assistance
Fees for programs may vary, however, UTS is offering a generous range of scholarships and grants* for eligible participants of UTS Virtual Global Short Programs:
- UTS Virtual Global Short Programs Scholarships - $750 (only for programs with participation fees)
- UTS Global Short Programs Ambassador Scholarships - $250
- New Colombo Plan Virtual Global Short Programs grants - from $1,000 to $3,000 (only for programs with participation fees).
- UTS Global Short Programs Equity and Diversity grants – full fee waivers for eligible students.

Pre and post experience
If you are an approved Virtual Global Short Programs participant you will be invited to a pre-experience session before your program starts. After your program ends, you will be asked to reflect on your program experience by filling in a short feedback form.
