  UTS Bachelor of Nursing prepares you for the exciting and challenging role of the Registered Nurse. This course offers you a  comprehensive range of theoretical and clinical nursing subjects that together provide the knowledge, skills and professional values graduates require to provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care. You will be well prepared for clinical practice and highly sought after for employment in a wide range of healthcare settings across Australia and internationally.

  The course is three years full-time (or equivalent part-time), consisting of both theoretical and practical components. Clinical learning is a key element of the course and clinical placements in health care settings begin in the first session of your first year and will continue every session thereafter. Simulation-based learning opportunities are integral to the course and are designed to assist you in preparing for clinical placements and your future role as a Registered Nurse. In your final year of study you can choose a specialty elective, for example paediatrics, critical care, peri operative, or mental health nursing to align your education with future career aspirations.

  If you perform highly in your Year 12 subjects, your selection rank may be boosted by the Year 12 subject scheme.

  The scheme, which is automatically applied, awards selection rank adjustments to your application based on your marks in subjects that are relevant to the courses you have applied to.

• ATAR and selection ranks arrow_forward_ios

  Your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a score between 0.00 and 99.95. It shows you how you rank compared to all the students in your year group in New South Wales. A selection rank combines your ATAR with any other adjustment points that make up your overall university entrance score. Your selection rank may differ from university to university, depending on the adjustment points granted to you at each institution.

  All you need to do is choose the Elective that inspires you the most.

  Transdisciplinary Electives integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines, allowing you to approach complex problems from a range of perspectives.

  By combining methods and insights from various disciplines, transdisciplinary learning often leads to breakthrough ideas and creative innovations that may not be possible within the confines of a single discipline.

  If you find yourself rapt by the world of innovation – you can pair your core degree with a Diploma in Innovation, graduating with two qualifications in the same timeframe. 

  In both instances, you’ll work on a real-world challenge presented by an industry partner organisation – partners who often create career pathways for our graduates.

  Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level.

  The requirements specified above apply to the standard, three-year mode of the course. The accelerated program has the following requirements.

  Bachelor of Nursing Accelerated Program (Enrolled Nurse Diploma Entry). Applicants must have :

  • current Ahpra registration as an Enrolled Nurse, and
  • a Diploma of Nursing completed 

  Hospital-trained enrolled nurses are not eligible for the accelerated course.

  Successful applicants are given advanced standing (eight subjects = 48 credit points) for their previous studies and are able to complete the course in two years full time with no pre-session or summer schools. Students who receive block credit of 48 credit points are not eligible for any further credit reduction against their course of study.

  As part of its duty of care to patients and clients receiving health care in NSW, anyone who works in a NSW public health facility must first undergo a criminal record check. You must provide UTS with either evidence that a criminal record check has been conducted on you in your country, or a statutory declaration that you have no criminal record in your country of residence or in any country you have resided in. Participation in screening and vaccination against infectious diseases are prerequisites for students undertaking clinical placements in health facilities.

  Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

  The UTS Year 12 Adjustment Factor Scheme awards adjustment factors to students based on their performance in selected high school subjects that are relevant to the course they have applied for.

  Bachelor of Nursing at UTS

  The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program at UTS is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This ensures that our program meets the highest standards of nursing education and prepares students to become Registered Nurses (RNs) in Australia.

  What is ANMAC? ANMAC is the National Accreditation Authority for nursing and midwifery education providers in Australia. It evaluates and accredits programs that prepare students to become RNs, ensuring they meet the required standards.

  Why is Accreditation Important? To become a registered nurse in Australia, you must complete a program accredited by ANMAC and approved by the NMBA. This accreditation guarantees that the education you receive meets the national standards for nursing practice.

  How Does Accreditation Work? ANMAC uses specific standards to assess and accredit nursing programs. These standards ensure that the program provides the necessary education and training for students to become competent and professional nurses. Once a program meets these standards, ANMAC recommends it to the NMBA for approval.

  Program Accreditation at UTS Our Bachelor of Nursing program has been accredited for five years, reflecting our commitment to providing high-quality nursing education. This accreditation means that graduates of our program are eligible to apply for registration with the NMBA, allowing them to practice as Registered Nurses in Australia.

  A block credit of 48 credit points (the first year of study) will be granted to the enrolled nurses who are eligible for entry into the C10122 Bachelor of Nursing (Accelerated Program).

  Clinical Placements for Bachelor of Nursing Students at UTS

  To participate in clinical placements as part of the Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program at UTS, you must meet the NSW Ministry of Health verification requirements. This includes:

  • Criminal Clearances: Ensuring you have no criminal record that would prevent you from working in healthcare settings or with children.
  • Screenings and Vaccinations: Completing necessary health screenings and vaccinations to protect against infectious diseases.
