UTS at a glance

  • International reputation: highest-performing university in Australia under 50 years of age (source: Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024)
  • Year established as a university: 1988
  • Number of campuses: The UTS City campus encompasses a variety of precincts and buildings catering to teaching, learning, research, social and administrative activities. Three of the City campus’s precincts – Haymarket, Broadway and Blackfriars – are located at the southern gateway to Sydney’s cosmopolitan central business district (CBD) and surrounded by local attractions. The newest precincts are situated within the elite sporting zone at Moore Park and on an industrial park at Botany.
  • Student enrolments: 51,038 students in 2024, including 13,807 international students
  • Total courses in 2024 (with enrolled students): 537
  • Total subjects (with enrolled students): 2,393
  • Student completions: 13,674 completions in 2024
  • Alumni: 295,691 (not including some graduates from antecedent institutions)

  • Graduate employment: 77.5% of UTS Australian-resident undergraduates were in full-time employment four months after completion, and 13.3% were in further full-time study
  • Exchange agreements: UTS has 224 exchange agreements enabling students to study on exchange in 41 countries.
  • Australian reputation: 100% of UTS research (broad fields) rated as world standard or above (source: Excellence in Research for Australia 2018)
