  Targeted at graduates aiming to become registered pharmacists, this Master of Pharmacy programme offers a path to professional registration. The course contains an innovative, practice-oriented curriculum that extends your scientific knowledge to meet modern pharmacy demands. Distinctive features include the capstone subject 'Molecule to Market' and two electives for tailored learning.

  Gain expertise in pharmaceutical sciences, professional pharmacy services, and integrated therapeutics. Learning is interactive, utilising advanced technology and enriched by industry experts. Instruction occurs in state-of-the-art teaching spaces, ensuring a blend of theory and hands-on experience.

  You will engage in diverse clinical placements throughout the programme, including a guaranteed hospital placement, all facilitated by UTS.

  Developed by leading pharmacy academics and an expert educational designer, the course's subject matter is delivered in an integrated, student-focused manner, making use of cutting-edge technologies and strong links with the pharmacy profession. Expert guest lecturers and practitioner teachers are utilised throughout the course to ensure relevance and real-world application of content.

  Students undertake clinical practice in a wide variety of settings sourced by UTS throughout the degree. This includes a guaranteed hospital pharmacy placement for eligible students. On-campus learning takes place in the Graduate School of Health's state-of-the-art education and research facility, which opened in 2019.

• Course duration arrow_forward_ios

  The course is an intensive two-year, full-time degree, which is equivalent to a three-year degree. Students are not permitted to enrol part time. In addition to coursework during sessions, students are required to undertake weekly clinical placements during session and block clinical placements during mid-session breaks.

• Admission requirements arrow_forward_ios

  To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  Applicants must have the following:

  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 4/7 AND Completed the following prerequisite subjects at a tertiary level within the last 10 years:
    • one pharmacology subject
    • two chemistry subjects
    • one biochemistry subject
    • one human physiology subject, and
    • one mathematics or statistics subject

  AND

  • Communication skills, interpersonal skills, interest in pharmacy, and commitment to pharmacy as a career (assessed through an interview) AND For applicants with a pharmacy degree completed overseas, demonstrated motivation for repeating a pharmacy qualification (assessed through a personal statement)

  Prerequisite checking

  All prerequisite subjects must be assessed and approved by the school. Prerequisite subject approvals are subject to change as they undergo an annual academic review (a new assessment is required for each new intake). Prerequisites may be completed as non-award units at a recognised tertiary institution if applicants did not complete them as part of their undergraduate degree.

  Prior to applications opening, applicants may submit a Prerequisite Assessment Table to gsh.future@uts.edu.au for pre-assessment. A pre-assessment is not required to apply. Pre-assessments will not be conducted once applications open.

  Prior to commencing a subject to fulfil this requirement, applicants should request a pre-assessment by emailing gsh.future@uts.edu.au.

  Professional and clinical requirements

  All successful applicants are required to:

  • acquire a Working With Children Check and an Australian National Police Check
  • complete a series of NSW Health forms including a Code of Conduct
  • demonstrate evidence of protection against a number of specified infectious diseases

  All applicants:

  For applicants with a pharmacy degree completed overseas:

  • Personal statement demonstrating motivation to study the course and outlining reasons for repeating a pharmacy qualification.

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

  This course offers a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP). This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.  

  CSP applications are reviewed continuously by the university and offered based on merit, so we recommend applying early to be considered. Learn more about applying for a CSP, eligibility and key dates.

  2025 Tuition Fees

  • Indicative first-year tuition fee: $9,314
  • Indicative Total tuition fee: $23,773

  Tuition fees are reviewed annually, with any new rates effective from the beginning of each calendar year. The total indicative tuition fee includes estimated annual increases over the duration of the course.

  Additional Costs 

  Your tuition fees do not include:

  • The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), which supports student services and activities. If eligible, you can defer this fee using SA-HELP.
  • Textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.
  • Any applicable payment processing fees (e.g., credit card surcharges).

  • The indicative tuition fees above are based on full-time study (1 year = 48 credit points).
  • Your actual fees depend on the year you enrol, your study load and the subjects you choose. Some subjects fall into different student contribution bands.

  As a recipient of the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship, you do not have to pay tuition fees for up to the maximum period of candidature. However, even with this scholarship, you should expect ongoing costs that aren’t covered, like travel, training, and professional development. These costs can vary for each person, so it’s important to plan accordingly. Additionally, scholarships are available to help with your living expenses.

  Important details: The RTP Fees Offset Scholarship covers your tuition fees, but please note that it doesn’t include additional costs related to studying or conducting research. Additional fees for domestic students. For more information visit Research student fees.

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for domestic students

  As a postgraduate student, you'll be responsible for covering your own tuition fees.

  2025 Tuition Fee

  • Indicative first-year tuition fee:  $36,460
  • Indicative total tuition fee:  $94,469

  You can choose to pay your fees upfront per session, or if you’re eligible, you can defer them using a government FEE-HELP loan. This loan helps you cover all or part of your tuition fees. Keep in mind that applications for this loan are specific to each course.

  Inherent requirements are academic and non-academic requirements that are essential for successfully completing a course at UTS. You can find the inherent requirements for your course via the inherent requirements directory.

• Professional recognition arrow_forward_ios

  This program has been granted accreditation by the Australian Pharmacy Council and is approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a qualification leading to registration as a pharmacist in Australia.

  Upon completion of the degree, graduates must complete a compulsory pre-registration training period and Intern Training Program in order to be eligible for registration.

  International students

  International students intending to apply for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia must meet the Pharmacy English Language Skills Registration Standard.

  The next available intake for this course is February 2026.

  Domestic applications open 29 July 2025. International students can apply immediately.

   It is recommended to apply early, as applications and eligibility for interviews are assessed on a rolling basis. Applications close once all places have been filled.

  There are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available in this course, which are competitive and awarded based on merit. To be considered for a CSP, applicants must apply on time in line with CSP deadlines.

  Eligible applicants must accept their offer by the lapse date to retain their place. Please note that due to the competitive nature of the course, applicants may not receive their CSP outcome until commencement of Autumn B session.

  Indigenous applicants are welcome to submit cultural and/or community referees to accompany their application. Guidance from the Professor of Practice in Indigenous Health during the application process is available on request.
