ISF continues to be a leading figure in sustainability throughout 2021 and 2022. Together with industry experts and sustainability specialists, we have held a number of special events that brought the sustainability conversation to you.

The race to decarbonise

ISF brings together a panel of leading experts and industry specialists in sustainability to ask the question, where does Australia stand in the decarbonising world? 

The Hon. Bob Carr, Dr Gabrielle Kuiper, Davina Rooney and Johanna Bowyer brought valuable insights into new technologies, and opportunities for investing in a net zero future.

In 2021 and 2022 ISF’s research informed some of the most debated issues in the media, featuring in over 550 articles. Our research sparked widespread conversations, pioneered innovative solutions, and continued to work towards a sustainable future.

The hidden casualty of Russia's war: global phosphorus security

Phosphorus mismanagement and destabilising events such as the war in Ukraine are causing dual crises. On one hand, threatening food security; while on the other, polluting water supply and creating environmental havoc. Our research in the phosphorus space is featured in more than 20 media outlets including ABC, SBS, and is part of a documentary on ABC iView 'The Chemical World'.

Offshore wind in Australia

In a collaboration between research centres and trade unions, ISF found that Australia has the perfect conditions to support a thriving offshore wind industry. Our offshore wind research is cited in more than 12 unique articles, including an interview with ISF Research Director Sven Teske on ABC.

Reducing new mining for vehicle battery metals

In the near future, many countries will be looking to transition to renewable energy and transport systems to prevent the worse effects of climate change. As this rapid transition to electric vehicles (EV) takes hold, ISF researchers are investigating sustainable solutions to keeping them running. Across 2021 and 2022 our research on EV featured in 90 unique pieces of online media, including on The Guardian and BNN Bloomberg.
