The Institute for Public Policy and Governance was established in UTS in 2015. Its aim is to support effective policymaking and effective public administration, in Australia and beyond. As an independent and nonprofit organisation, we are bipartisan in our approach. Our efforts are designed to create improvements in public policymaking, evaluation, governance, arrangements, and general public administration. The Institute for Public Policy and Governance at the University of Technology Sydney is a leading provider of innovative research, consulting, professional development programmes with the goal of empowering communities and organisations and governments. So we have a multidisciplinary team that focuses on addressing complex challenges in policy, governance, leadership, and collaborating with all stakeholders to deliver insights and tailored solutions. So we have advisory and research services. That's where we use our evidence-based strategies to inform decision-making and innovation. We also have in-house training solutions for organisations. That's where we customise our training for businesses and government bodies. Our services are led by experts who are adept in translating research into practise, promoting practical ways to upskill professionals through work-based projects and peer support. The institute has partnered with state, local, and federal government to deliver practical solutions, including tailored programmes. One such example is an evidence and evaluation academy, a long-term, six months professional development programme that focuses on developing a culture of evidence and evaluation across the sector. The Institute for Public Policy and Governance is not standalone. It also has a partnership with the University's business school for the Centre for Sport, Business and Society. We also host the Centre for Local Government, an entity that has been with the university for over 32 years. For all of that time, it's had one key purpose, to work in partnership with local government in Australia and internationally to improve the performance and outcomes of local government for local communities. One of the defining features of our institute is that it's very much practitioner run. Most of our senior management have had extensive public sector senior careers, and we bring an approach that is very much about making a difference in the real world. We blend evidence with action, and we are designing all of our programmes, whether they be consultancy services or teaching, around a real world difference that our clients, our students can see. Change the way they work, change their knowledge and understanding of public policy, and improve outcomes for the community on a regular basis.
