GLAMSLAM is a day for all those working in or with Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums, to come together and talk about the pressing issues facing cultural institutions and to share their work. 

GLAMSLAM 2026 took place on Thursday 23 April in partnership with the Australian Museum.

Program

  • Keynote by Kim McCay, AO, Director and CEO of the Australian Museum
  • 'Collecting Crises: Institutional Memorials and Grassroots Recovery in Bondi and Lismore' panel discussion with Shannon Biederman, Senior Curator, Jewish Museum and Dr Charlotte Feakins, University of Sydney. This discussion will explore how institutions and communities are responding to emergencies through collecting practices and new trauma informed guidelines for disaster preparedness and recovery.
  • Dr Mariko Smith, Senior Specialist (Research and Publications), First Nations, Australian Museum, on a new curatorial framework for First Nations collections
  • Lightning Talks! 4 minute talks by specialists across the GLAM sector showcasing new research, projects, pressing issues and exhibitions. These give attendees an insight into current work and challenges, raising questions for us to consider and discuss
  • GLAMJAM! A participant driven, facilitated discussion focused on topics suggested by members of the GLAM sector.
