Academic support
UTS Library
UTS Library has a wide range of resources, facilities and services to support you throughout your studies including textbooks, subject readings, old exam papers, academic writing guides, scientific literature databases, workshops, a gaming room and bookable group study rooms. Visit the Library website and chat with a librarian.
UTS HELPS
Higher Education Language and Presentation Support (HELPS) aids with English language proficiency and academic study support. They help students of all levels to not only develop their professional written and spoken communication skills but also academic study techniques such as critical analysis or paraphrasing. Just some of the free services offered include assignment review, presentation skills practice and feedback, as well as general spoken English practice. All services are available online and on-campus. Drop-in at CB01.05.25 or make a booking by emailing helps@uts.edu.au or calling 9514 9733.
Mathematics & Science Study Centre
The Mathematics and Science Study Centre (MSSC) provides support for Mathematics, Science and Statistics skills for all students. MSSC operates a drop-in room located on UTS City Campus, in Building 4, level 3, room 331 (CB04.03.331). Academic staff members are available for one-to-one assistance. Health, inclusion and wellbeing
Student Services Unit/Counselling
Student Services provides a range of free and confidential professional services to support different aspects of your life and learning at UTS. These services include counselling for personal problems and learning issues. If you are experiencing difficulties with your overall study program, for whatever reason, telephone +61 2 9514 1177 (City campus). If you have urgent situations after-hours, please use the emergency contacts list.
Accessibility Service
The Accessibility Service can support students with disabilities, medical or mental health conditions, including temporary injuries (e.g. broken limbs). The Accessibility Service works with Academic Liaison Officers in each faculty to provide ‘reasonable adjustments’ such as exam provisions, assistive technology, requests and strategies for managing your studies alongside your health condition. If you are unsure whether you need assistance, we recommend getting in touch early and we can provide advice on how our service can assist you. Financial Assistance Service
The Financial Assistance Service can assist you with financial aspects of life at university, including Centrelink information, tax returns and budgeting, interest-free student loans and grants to assist with course-related costs. Support for parents/carers
The Academic Liaison Officers (ALOs) should be your first point of contact as you navigate time and other pressures as a result of your caring responsibilities. ALOs will be able to advise you and liaise with other staff on your behalf in relation to assessment arrangements.
