In your final year of the U@Uni Academy you’ll take part in UniPrep. It’s a free tutoring and mentoring program, supporting you to achieve your personal best and get ready to start uni.

Whether you study at UTS, go to another university, or are choosing a different career path, we help you decide what you want and prepare you to take it on. We’ll focus on different areas throughout the year, from study skills to discovering what inspires you. And we listen — the sessions cover areas you and your peers need.

The tutoring sessions we run aren’t as formal as your high school classes. In fact, we’re all about smaller groups that are informal, flexible and tailored to you and your peers.

Session structure

In a typical tutoring session, you might work through past exam questions, share study tips, get help with your assignments and homework, and discuss subject material with other students and with your U@Uni Student Ambassadors. The Student Ambassadors can also share their personal experience of what it's like to start uni, how to choose your course or subjects, and other things you can expect if you choose to pursue uni yourself.

There will be some time during your sessions where our Student Ambassadors can also help make sure you are meeting the graduation requirements to gain entry to UTS through the U@Uni Academy.

Our ambassadors

UniPrep sessions include mentoring and academic support delivered by UTS ambassadors — current students at UTS. You may have met some of them during your Year 11 U@Uni Academy activities. They’ve been chosen as role models for their attitudes and skills useful for success in the HSC and first year of university. Our ambassadors can guide you in what UTS has to offer, and what it means to be a student here.

Timetable sessions

Each UniPrep session runs for one hour. Sessions take place over three blocks during Terms 1, 2 and 3, for 12 weeks in total. You also have a day on-campus at UTS. Your teachers will let you know when and where to attend your school’s sessions. If you’re not sure what day or time tutoring sessions are being run at your school, please contact a teacher at your school or ask us – 9514 1084 or uatuni@uts.edu.au.
