Laboratory studies
Large trays for evaluating
cockroach baits and gels
We are able to offer studies for product screening, product development or registration or marketing.
We have our own standard protocols or can work from supplied protocols.
Equipment includes normal laboratory equipment as well as specialised insect bioassay equipment such as WHO Mosquito Chambers, Peet-Grady Chamber, Arnold microapplicator, Potter spray tower and large arenas for cockroach bait efficacy work.
We also carry out laboratory-based human repellency studies on mosquitoes, houseflies, ticks and leeches. All repellent studies are carried out with Human Research Ethics approval.
Example of some of the studies we can offer are:
- Residual life of insecticide on various surfaces
- Bioassays to determine effectiveness of insect growth regulators (juvenoids and chitin synthesis inhibitors)
- Tray or arena studies to determine attractancy/repellency of insecticides or additives and efficacy of baits and gel formulations
- Knockdown of flying insects (mosquitoes, flies) in small chambers or Peet Grady chamber
- Efficacy of personal insect repellents (PIRs).
Bite inhibition studies on mosquitoes using coils or electrical devices.
