About the Council
The council is a growing and evolving international and transdisciplinary group consisting of 30+ members (2025), across 15 institutions and 6 countries (Australia, Canada, England, France, Turkey and the UAE) aiming at fostering inclusive workplace environments that recognise the diverse roles of parents. The Council is strengthened by the leadership of TD School Director of Research, Fanny Salignac.
Our members research and specialise in:
Driving workplace change
- Fostering inclusive workplace environments that recognise the diverse roles parents hold in both paid and unpaid domains.
- Advancing systemic change that values unpaid labour performed by parents.
- Supporting parents’ professional progression and personal wellbeing, ensuring workplaces accommodate the realities of parenting.
Supporting societal and cultural change
- Transforming societal and organisational perceptions of parental roles—especially normalising parenting as a vital social contribution.
- Promoting equal support for both mothers and fathers, reducing gendered expectations in caregiving.
- Driving a fair distribution of unpaid work between parents at home and across workplaces.
Impacting wellbeing and psychosocial outcomes
- Highlighting the psychosocial wellbeing of parents as a core societal priority.
- Advocating for cultural shifts that recognise parenting as critical societal infrastructure, not peripheral or secondary.
