A census date is set by UTS for each session in accordance with Commonwealth legislation (HESA 2003). Every subject has its own census date based on the session in which it is taught.
The census date is the date on which the following important things happen:
- you become financially liable for any subjects in which you are enrolled,
- it's the final day you can withdraw from a subject without incurring:
- financial liability, and
- academic penalty,
- you incur a HELP debt for any subjects for which you are eligible for a HELP loan and have not made an upfront payment,
- it's the final day for Commonwealth supported students, and students requesting Commonwealth assistance can:
- submit appropriate Commonwealth assistance forms, and
- provide their tax file number (TFN) if you intend to defer your fees,
- it's the final day the UTS is allowed to accept upfront payments of Commonwealth supported places (CSP) student contributions, however earlier deadlines for payment may apply - see due dates.
