The Diversities and Social Inclusion Research Group explores how our societies are shaped by diversities of many forms, including those defined by culture, gender, sexuality, class and dis/ability, among others.
We research diversities and social inclusion in a wide range of social sites, including urban communities, arenas of education and learning, and online spaces. From transnational movements of people, cultures and ideas to studies of local communities, our research spans multiple scales and interpretive approaches. Intersections of multiple dimensions of diversity inform our work, and our research is broadly defined by a normative imperative towards inclusion of marginalised groups.
The group’s research is multi-disciplinary, drawing on sociology, cultural studies, historical studies, education, politics, linguistics, media studies, and other disciplines.
