What you'll study
The Master of Teaching Primary Education is a postgraduate degree, and you must have completed a relevant undergraduate degree to enrol.
You’ll study 30 credit points of core Primary Education subjects that build knowledge in critical areas such as inclusive education, Indigenous knowledges, literacy, numeracy, digital supported learning and classroom management. You’ll also develop curriculum and pedagogical expertise through 48 credit points of Key Learning Areas in English, Maths, Science and Technology, Creative Arts, Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).
You'll then apply your learnings in the primary school environment, completing 60 days of practice from over 200+ partner schools in regional and urban areas of New South Wales. This professional experience teaching placement occurs across three subjects (18 credit points).

Industry accreditation
This course is currently accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) as a recognised primary school teaching qualification. UTS is seeking additional NESA approval for proposed organisational and curriculum variations, to be implemented in Autumn 2027. To gain employment as a teacher in NSW schools, graduates must meet the requirements of the NESA, including language proficiency.
