The Connectivity Innovation Network’s Secure Multi Org Data Sharing (SMODS) Platform was a finalist in the 2025 NSW iAwards in the Technology Platform Category.

The ceremony was held at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour on the 31st July 2025.

Congratulations to the UTS project lead, Dr Xu Wang!

The impetus for the SMODS platform was a shared frustration among Emergency Service Organisations in NSW who are not able to share data in real time, in particular multimedia data such as still images and CCTV video, in a secure manner.

Unlike any other data sharing platform, SMODS is the first to incorporate the Australian Computer Society’s Data Sharing Framework, ensuring real time secure, scalable and privacy preserved multimedia data sharing between organisations.

The data sharing platform was featured in the October 2024 issue of  Critical Comms Magazine and demonstrated live at the launch of UTS’ Cybersecurity Precinct in June .

It is anticipated that an Expression of Interest for commercialisation partner will be released in the next few months – so watch this space!
