Postgraduate Credit Recognition

Credit Recognition (CR) or Recognition of Prior Learning, is based on prior completed undergraduate and completed or partially complete postgraduate studies at a UTS recognised university or institution and is granted subject to University Rules and UTS Business School guidelines

Credit Recognition Limits

Credit Recognition on the basis of prior completed undergraduate studies can be approved for core subjects only and is allowed for courses listed below:

EMBA

MBA

Maximum 4 Core subjects

MBA in Entrepreneurship

Maximum 12 credit points for online subjects

Other Masters (incl. Extended)

Maximum 4 Core subjects

Grad Dip

Maximum 2 Core subjects


The total number of subjects in the table below comprises credit recognition received on the basis of undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies, and postgraduate subjects credited from other UTS postgraduate courses.

Documentation required for Credit Recognition:

* maximum 6cp (1 subject) is allowed in MBA sub-major and 12cp (2 subjects) in MBA major,

** maximum 12cp unspecified exemptions may be considered as one of the CBK90216 Elective option on the basis of completed postgraduate level subject with business related content

Credit Recognition will be considered for studies completed through the following recognised professional bodies and approved UTS Business School Courses:

  • CPA Program by Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPAA) – maximum 2 subjects
  • CA Program by Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) – maximum 2 subjects
  • Professional Diploma of Human Resources by Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) – 21720 Human Resource Management in C07113 GD in Human Resource Management and C04227 Masters of Human Resource Management
  • ***Executive Certificate in Event Management by UTS EDU – 27765 Event Project Management in C11038 GC in Event Management

***maximum 12 credit points for online subjects in C11251 GC in Commercialisation, C11252 GC in Entrepreneurship & C11253 GC in in New Venture Funding.

  • A completed CR application form (PDF, 335.21kB)
  • A certified copy of your academic transcript.
  • A detailed, official subject outline for each subject. The outline must show:
    • the subject details (institution details, subject name and number)
    • the semester/year of study (the submitted subject outline should be current at the time of the subject being studied)
    • the contact hours per week,
    • the coverage of the subject, topics discussed per week,
    • the assessment structure,
    • the reference and reading materials (textbooks).

International Students please submit all required documents to UTS International prior to commencing your studies at UTS.

Domestic Students please submit all required documents to one of our Student Centres.

Applications may take up to 20 working days to process. It is advised that you submit your application early to achieve a timely outcome and to assist in the enrolment process.
