• How the midwifery CPP model works

  Under this new model, you may be able to access up to 26 weeks of CPP across your course through a combination of:

  • clinical placement
  • Continuity of Care (CoC) 

  Your CPP support is worked out by subject. Each subject is assigned a fixed number of CPP‑eligible weeks, based on when students are expected to meet the 30‑hours‑per‑week requirement across clinical placement and Continuity of Care activities, as outlined in the Midwifery Work Integrated Learning calendar.

  These weeks are not calculated by converting total placement hours into weeks, as placement structures and weekly hours vary.

  Important:

  • UTS will no longer accept logs submitted after placement to verify the 30-hour-per week requirement for CPP.
  • We’ll use the approved midwifery CPP model and the relevant Midwifery Work Integrated Learning calendar to assess your eligibility.

   

  What does the model mean if I have already submitted logs and they were approved for CPP?

  If you’ve already submitted logs that were approved for CPP, those approved weeks will still count towards your maximum 26 weeks of support across the course. You can still apply for future CPP, as long as you meet the financial eligibility criteria. If you reach the 26-week limit before you finish your course, you may not receive the full number of weeks listed in the model.

  If you’re applying for CPP, you’ll still need to meet the general eligibility and financial criteria on the main Eligibility and application page.

• 2026 week allocations by subject

  The tables below show how UTS allocates CPP support weeks for eligible midwifery subjects.

   

  Students progressing through the full course allocation model

  From 1 January 2026, first and second year midwifery students who meet the financial eligibility criteria will be entitled to the following CPP allocation per subject. If you’re eligible, you’ll receive the full allocation for that subject — not just for weeks where you complete 30+ hours of placement.

  Students in third year in 2026

  If you're in your third year of Midwifery Practice in 2026 you will receive the following allocation, subject to meeting the financial eligibility criteria and not exceeding the maximum threshold of 26 weeks of placement support.

  What happens if my placement exceeds an average of 30 hours per week during weeks not covered in the model allocation?

  If your placement goes over an average of 30 hours per week in weeks that aren’t included in the model allocation, you’ll still only be eligible for the maximum number of weeks set out in the model. This helps make sure support is distributed fairly across the 3 years of the course. More support has been allocated to subjects with higher clinical and Continuity of Care (CoC) requirements.

   

  Want to claim CPP for a 2025 midwifery placement?

  If you want to claim CPP for an eligible 2025 midwifery placement, you may still apply within 6 months of the placement start date.

  For 2025 midwifery placements:

  • placement start dates are determined by the 2025 Midwifery Work Integrated Learning Calendar
  • you must apply while you’re still a student
  • you must not have graduated from the degree before applying
  • eligible 2025 placements will be paid at the 2025 rate of $331.65 per week

  CPP payment rates are tied to the year of the placement and indexed annually, which is why 2025 and 2026 placements are paid at different weekly rates.

   

   

• Placement commencement dates

  If you’re studying an eligible midwifery subject and undertaking a mandatory placement, UTS uses the 2026 Midwifery Work Integrated Learning Calendar to determine your placement commencement date for CPP assessment.

  To ensure alignment in assessment practices across eligible degrees with mandatory placements, the following placement commencement dates apply for 2026 midwifery CPP applications:

  If your application is approved, UTS will calculate your payment based on the subject allocation that applies to you and the relevant placement commencement date used for assessment.
