About PLT at UTS

Practical Legal Training (PLT) is an essential requirement for admission as a lawyer in Australia. As an accredited PLT provider, UTS offers a PLT program with a Practical Experience (PE) component governed by the Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB).

UTS students can satisfy the PE component by completing subject Practical Experience 75427 – 15 days Practical Experience.

Previous subject
Before 2026, students could complete the subject 75411 Practical Experience – 65 Days. Students already enrolled in this subject can complete it and do not need to transfer to 75427.

For a list of course components, see the Practical Legal Training webpage.

Important

  • Students may only enrol into PE according to their course progression - as set out in the  UTS Handbook. Students must refer to the UTS Handbook relevant to the year they commenced their course. Previous versions of the handbook are available in the Handbook archives.
  • Please email UTS's dedicated Practical Experience Team at Law.PE@uts.edu.au if you have questions about PE.

How to complete subject 75411 or 75427 Practical Experience

Subjects 75411 and 75427 use CareerHub as an administrative tool. Each subject utilises the same workflow processes, with the total days calculation adjusted. Please use the information below to learn how to complete PE, regardless of your subject or stream enrolment. Where there is reference to "rules", students should download a copy of the rules relevant to their study plan.
