  Application dates vary depending on your chosen scholarship, program or cadetship.

  For the Women in Engineering and IT Scholarships, applications will open on 1 June and close on 6 September 2026

  For the Industry Dergee Academy (IDeA) cadetship, applications will open on 1 June and close on 13 September 2026.

  Applications for the Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship opened on June 1. The closing date for applications has been extended to 13 September 2026.

• What scholarships are available for Engineering students at UTS?

  UTS offers a range of scholarships for Engineering students, including Women in Engineering and IT Co-op Scholarship and Faculty Women in Engineering and IT scholarship. You can also explore additional opportunities using our UTS Scholarships Tools.

   

• What scholarships are available for IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or AI students?

  Students applying for IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence degrees may be eleigible for scholarships including the Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship and the Women in Engineering and IT scholarship.
  
  Students interested in industry experience can also explore the Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) Cadetship which combines paid work experience with study in areas like Cybersecurity and Computer Science.

• Are there scholarships for double degrees like Engineering and Law or Engineering and IT?

  The Women in Engineering and IT Faculty scholarships support eligible students studying selected Engineering or IT double degrees. Additional scholarships may also be available through the UTS scholarships tool.

• Are there scholarships for Cybersecurity, AI, Data Science or emerging tech fields?

  The Women in Engineering and IT Faculty scholarships can support students studying degrees in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and relatated Technology fields.

• How do I apply for Engineering or IT Scholarships at UTS?

  The application process for Engineering and IT scholarships can vary by program.

  For both the Women in Engineering and IT scholarships and the Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship, you must complete the UTS online scholarship application form.

  Students applying for the Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship must also apply for the course through UAC. 

  Always check the eligibility criteria, application process and supporting documentation requirements for your chosen scholarship before applying.

• When do Engineering and IT scholarship applications open and close?

  Applications for the Women in Engineering and IT Scholarships, Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship, and Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) Cadetship open on 1 June 2026. 

  Applications close:

  • Women in Engineering and IT: 6 September 2026
  • Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship (BIT Co-op): 13 September 2026 (application deadline extended)
  • The IDeA Cadetship: 13 September 2026

• Will I receive my scholarship outcome before my UTS offer?

  Selection timelines vary by scholarship.

  For the Women in Engineering and IT (WiEIT) scholarships and the Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship, shortlisted students typically receive updates after interviews and before ATAR release.

  Final scholarship outcomes are generally confirmed during UAC offer rounds. 

• Do Engineering or IT Scholarships cover full tuition fees, partial tuition, or provide a stipend?

  Scholarship benefits vary depending on the program.

  • The Women in Engineering and IT Co-op Scholarship provides $66,000 in financial support over four years, paid fortnightly.
  • The Faculty Women in Engineering and IT Scholarship provides $10,000 in the first year of study.
  • The Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship provides up to $49,500 in financial support offered over 3 years (paid fortnightly). 

  Additional scholarship funding arrangements may be available through other UTS scholarship programs. 

  These funds are generally provided for students to use at their discretion, including expenses such as accommodation, study materials, transport or living costs.

• What is the difference between a scholarship and a cadetship?

  A scholarship typically provides financial support to help with study costs, while a cadetship combines university study with paid industry experience.

  At UTS, the Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) cadetship allows students to gain professional experience alongside their degree.

• What ATAR or selection rank do I need for Engineering or IT scholarships?

  Eligibility requirements vary by scholarship. Programs including the Women in Engineering and IT Co-op Scholarship, Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship and Faculty of Women in Engineering and IT scholarship may require a minimum ATAR or selection rank.

  The Women in Engineering and IT scholarships applies to a range of Engineering and IT degrees at UTS. Check the scholarship eligibility criteria to confirm whether your preferred course is included.

• Can domestic students, permanent residents or New Zealand citizens apply for Engineering and IT scholarships?

  Eligibility varies by scholarship. The Women in Engineering and IT scholarships, Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship and the Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) Cadetship are open to Australian and New Zealand citizens. Refer to each scholarship's Condition of Award for full eligibility requirements. 

• Can interstate students apply for Engineering or IT scholarships at UTS?

  Interstate students are welcome to apply for scholarships, including the Women in Engineering and IT scholarships, Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship and the Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) Cadetship.

  You'll be required to apply through UAC and meet the required selection criteria, including obtaining a comparable ATAR score.

• Can mature-age students or careers changers apply for Engineering and IT scholarships?

  Some scholarships are open to mature-age students or career changers, while others are designed for recent school leavers. Refer to the Conditions of Award and eligiblity criteria for your chosen scholarship.

• Does elite athlete status make me eligible for additional scholarships?

  Students who participate in elite sport or performance programs may be eligible for support through the UTS Elite Athlete and Performers Scheme, including scholarship opportunities connected to Engineering and IT study.

• Can I apply for Engineering or IT scholarships if I take a gap year?

  The Women in Engineering and IT scholarships and the Bachelor of IT Co-op scholarship are open to eligible recent school leavers, including students who've taken a gap year. Applicants must generally have completed Year 12 within the previous two years and not undertaken higher education study since.

  Yes. UTS offers the Women in Engineering and IT scholarships for eligible students studying Engineering and IT degrees.

• Are there scholarships for the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence?

  Yes. Students applying for the Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence may be eligible for scholarships, including the Faculty Women in Engineering and IT Scholarship.

• Are there scholarships for Software Engineering?

  Students studying the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Software Engineering may be eligible for scholarships, including the Faculty Women in Engineering and IT Scholarship and the Women in Engineering and IT Co-op Scholarship.

• Are there scholarships for the UTS IT Co-op program?

  The Bachelor of IT Co-op program is attached to the UTS Bachelor of IT Co-op course (BIT Co-op). Eligible students receive up to $49,500 in financial support over three years (paid fortnightly), along with two six-month industry placements. 

• What scholarships exist for PhD or Higher Degree Research Engineering or IT students?

  The Women in Engineering and IT Scholarships, Bachelor of IT Co-op Scholarship and the Industry Degree Academy (IDeA) Cadetship are designed for recent school leavers and undergraduate students.

  Students interested in Higher Degree Research opportunities, including PhD scholarships in Engineering or Information Technology, can explore available options through the UTS Scholarships tool. 

• Can part-time Engineering or IT students apply for scholarships?

  Most Engineering and IT scholarships require full-time study. Some programs may allow temporary part-time study or approved leave under exceptional circumstances, which are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

• Are government-funded STEM or technology scholarships available at UTS?

  You may be eligible for the Faculty Women in Engineering and IT Scholarship if you commence the first year of an Engineering or IT undergraduate degree course at UTS.
