Overview
This scholarship aims to support outstanding Year 12 students experiencing financial hardship and/or other educational disadvantages to undertake an FEIT undergraduate degree at UTS.
Who is eligible
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
- Current school leavers or gap year students who graduated in the previous year where no tertiary study was undertaken in the gap year; and
- Have received an offer through UAC for a UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology undergraduate degree; and
- Intended full-time enrolment in a UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology undergraduate degree [1].
- Have applied for and/or been assessed under the Equity Scholarship or Educational Access Scheme via UAC and therein demonstrated financial disadvantage and/or other education disadvantages (at the time of Scholarship selection).
[1] Students undertaking the Bachelor of Information Technology (Co-op) are not eligible.
Selection process
- Academic excellence at year 12 level, ranked in ATAR order, excluding bonus points[1].
- First UAC preference for a UTS FEIT undergraduate degree at the time of selection will be highly regarded.
- Candidates who have applied using the optional UTS online Elite School Leavers Scholarships Application form will be highly regarded. As demonstrated in the Scholarship:
- Motivation to succeed in the chosen UTS FEIT degree program
- Demonstrated initiative in personal and professional life
- Demonstrated financial disadvantage and/or other educational disadvantages (through the UAC Equity Scholarship or Educational Access Scheme application). This may include:
- Financial Hardship
- Exceptional Financial Hardship
- Regional or remote background
- Sole parent responsibilities
- Carer responsibilities
- Long-term medical condition / disability or ongoing effects of abuse
- Indigenous Australian
- Refugee status
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate in priority order:
- Financial Hardship and one or more educational disadvantages
- Financial Hardship only
- One or more educational barriers
[1] Scholarships that are not able to be awarded may be opened for application to U@Uni Pathways or UniReady Enabling Program students. A separate application and selection committee may be required.

How to apply
These scholarships are awarded automatically following the release of ATAR results in December, although you must be enrolling as a domestic student and have a University of Technology Sydney course preference on your UAC application to be eligible.
