Space request form

How to book a space

  1. Review online calendar to ensure the space is available at your chosen time. 
  2. Review the bookable spaces and choose which one might be suitable for your event
  3. Request a booking using the Student Learning Hub Space Request Form . (If you are a representative of a student club, society or collective, please contact either ActivateUTS or the UTS Students’ Association to manage your booking on your behalf)
  4. You will be notified of the outcome of your request within 1 week 
  5. You will receive an email and calendar notification if your request is approved along with support documentation to ensure data is collected (Desk/Consult rooms only)
  6. To cancel a booking, contact StudentLearningHub@uts.edu.au as soon as possible.

Bookable spaces

The Student Learning Hub is a student space that is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the student university experience. We host a variety of activities such as micro training, peer-to-peer advice, and clubs and society events. Hub spaces are prioritised for use according to the Student Space Booking and Use Guidelines.

The following Hub spaces are available to be booked for student-facing activities during Student Learning Hub opening hours:

Desk spaces

Ask a student desk

The Ask a student desk is used during Orientation and the first weeks of session to guide students around campus and direct them to services. After this, the space is prioritised for student-facing activities like drop-ins, pop-ups or as an extension of the Activities space between the desks.

Learn a skill desk

The Learn a skill desk is prioritised for short-form student training and skills development. This space is centered around training workshops for students who don't have time to attend a 2 hours workshop. If you have a small lesson, workshop, or training session this is a student-facing space for friendly and informal learning.

To book a desk please use the Space Request Form.

Activities space

The Activities Space is the open floor plan in the middle of the hub. This space is prioritised for activities, engagements or games that require large floor space. If you are looking to run an activity that requires room for display, movement a level of physical student engagement, this is the most suitable space.  To book this space in conjunction with a desk please make that known in the 'Other information' section of the Space Request Form.

What's on calendar

'What's on this week' is a physical large-scale calendar that provides information about what's on around UTS, Highlighting workshops, events, online courses, and more. If you would like to have your event promoted on the Calendar please email the with the details. StudentLearningHub@uts.edu.au

Our consultation rooms are located in Building 2, Level 4, right next to the Student Learning Hub bookable on outlook. These rooms are prioritised for one on one training sessions and consultations between services and students. When the rooms have not been booked they are open to students for study.

Terms and conditions for using Hub Spaces

General

  • The SLH Booking Request Application Form should be completed 14 days in advance of the requested activity
  • Applicants will be notified of an outcome within 7 days of your application
  • SLH Desk Bookings only: As part of your booking you will be required to collect data on behalf of the Student Learning Hub, observing student engagement during your activity. Information on this process will be sent to you when your booking is confirmed.
  • You must ensure that you allow time for set up and clean up in your booking request
  • Booking requests will be prioritised based on the key initiatives of the Student Learning Hub  
  • All users of the space are required to act in accordance with the Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy and the Code of Conduct 

Environment – Desk and Consultation Room Bookings only

  • You are responsible for leaving the space and the surroundings in a clean and tidy condition. If any cleaning is required after your booking, you should arrange this directly with the Facilities Management Office
  • No equipment or belongings should be left in the venue unless prior arrangements have been made with the Student Learning Hub
  • Signage and promotional items for your activity or unit need to be agreed on in advance and should be placed in allocated areas only for the duration of your booking. We do not recommend banners due to wind from adjacent doors. 

Health and Safety – Desk and Consultation Room Bookings only

  • You shall ensure that any equipment you bring to the space (e.g. electrical equipment) is safe and in good working order, is used in a safe manner, and where relevant, has been tested in accordance with current safety testing requirements.
  • You must ensure that you have assessed any risks for your activity prior to submitting a booking request. The Student Learning Hub may require you to provide documentation, depending on the nature of your event.
  • It is the responsibility of the area organising an activity to liaise with Security, FMO, MCU, and any other UTS units in line with the UTS Campus Policy.

Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions may impact your ability to use the space in the future.
