Typical course program

The outline below shows an example program for the Bachelor of Management majoring in Events based on a full-time study load. Please note that your exact program may differ based on your unique circumstances, such as your subject selections and recognition of prior learning.

  1. First year

    Build foundational skills in management and marketing while exploring the contexts and impacts of events and entertainment. Study innovation, entrepreneurship, and event management, with options to customise your learning through electives, a sub-major or a second major.

  2. Second year

    Acquire practical experience in the Innovation Lab and develop skills in managing risk and legal issues. Explore event promotion and sponsorship, with flexibility to choose additional electives.

  3. Third year

    Focus on venue operations and servicescapes, and apply your knowledge in a business internship or diversity management. Complete your studies with the capstone in managing for social impact and hands-on experience in the Event Creation Lab.

At the UTS Business School we have a unique approach to management when you study the Bachelor of Management with an events major you gain the skills and knowledge to conceptualise plan and deliver events of all scales and types from international conferences to cultural festivals and sporting events you will work for and with industry.

Plan and run your very own event and you can gain invaluable hands-on experience in a professional internship all while benefiting from our extensive industry networks. You'll study in the heart of Sydney's leading business and entertainment present right here on our city campus.

My name is Hayden Ferral-Smith and I studied a Bachelor of Management at UTS majoring in events and I'm currently now working as a bar supervisor at the ICC Sydney. I think the best advice that I have for enrolling is if you're considering it in the slightest just come to UTS it helps so much with soft skills and opens up a whole new world of business for you that whether you want to be a bar supervisor at the ICC Sydney or just working in finance behind a desk or creating your own business or setting up the next largest festival, it it definitely will help you to do that.

Through my experience with UTS I actually even before I'm got my internship coming up next year, I managed to land some special work as an events assistant with one of the partners who works with UTS and I've got some valuable internship experience through that i think UTS is really good at taking what is important about that industry and giving you that practical experience.

I think something that was really interesting and rewarding in the degree was in the final semester I undertook event creation lab we were asked to put on an online event that raised money for charity my group picked Take 3 For The Sea and we were able to work over the semester to raise that money um and donates out to charity which was really cool and it was really nice to see that kind of event take place at the end.

"A rewarding part of the degree was the Event Creation Lab. My team worked with the charity ‘Take 3 For The Sea’, which aims to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans. We created an online event to raise money for them and boost awareness, which was really fulfilling.”
