Admissions information

This course offers you a pathway entry into the Master of Architecture (C04235) or Master of Landscape Architecture (C04270). It also prepares you for advanced study in a Higher Degree by Research program at the PhD level.

The course is designed for aspiring architects seeking the foundational degree necessary to pursue professional accreditation. Opt for this programme to understand the architect's role in shaping global cities with innovative spatial concepts. Its uniqueness lies in challenging conventional architectural notions, fostering creativity and material sensibility.

You will master digital design and fabrication, learning essential software and model-making skills to bring ideas to life. Please note, the Bachelor of Design in Architecture by itself does not lead to professional recognition as an architect. To become a professional architect, students must complete this degree followed by the Master of Architecture (C04235) (an additional two years of full-time study or equivalent).
This course also prepares students for advanced study in a Higher Degree by Research program at the PhD level.

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline at an appropriate level.
UTS students: course completed within the last three years

Applicants with a UTS Bachelor of Design in Architecture or UTS Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture or UTS Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) who have completed the course within the last 3 years and attained a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or above will receive an offer

UTS students: course completed four or more years ago

Applicants with a UTS Bachelor of Design in Architecture UTS Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture or UTS Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) or equivalent who have completed the course 4 or more years ago AND have demonstrated relevant work experience within the architecture industry must provide the following additional material in order to be considered for a place in the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Architecture:
- A digital portfolio of 10 x A4 landscape pdfs that display digital files, scans and/or photographs of original design work done by the applicant (maximum size 5MB).
- A 200-300 word statement addressing the applicant's reasons for undertaking Honours level study in design at UTS, and the specific learning that they are seeking given their intended career direction on completion of the degree.
- A 1-page CV in PDF format that clearly articulates the applicant’s design or related experience, accompanied by supporting reference/s from related industry employer/s.•A copy of the academic transcript.
Non-UTS applicants

Applicants with a degree which is equivalent to the UTS Bachelor of Design in Architecture or UTS Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture or UTS Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) and who have attained a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or above must provide the following additional material in order to be considered for a place in the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Architecture:
- a digital portfolio of 10 x A4 landscape PDFs that display digital files, scans and/or photographs of original design work done by the applicant (maximum size 5MB)
- a 200–300-word statement addressing the applicant's reasons for undertaking honours-level study in design at UTS and the specific learning that they are seeking given their intended career direction on completion of the degree
- a one-page CV in PDF format that clearly articulates the applicant's design or related experience
- a verified copy of the candidate's previous academic transcript.
Students must refer to the inherent requirements for all degrees offered by Design and Architecture in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building.

All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.
