Drones (remote piloted aircraft)
Drone Insurance seeks to cover our legal liability to pay damages in respect of accidental bodily injury and accidental damage to property caused by the Aircraft.
If you are planning on purchasing or have purchased a Drone you must notify UTS Insurance immediately.
UTS Insurance is not available on any drones with a weight of 2kg+ (including payload) unless the operator/pilot has a valid Remote Pilots License (RePL).
CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) regulations in regards to RPA’s weighing more than 2kg require an RPA’s operators certificate (ReOC) and a remote pilot licence (RePL).
CASA classes all flights by drones in excess of 2kg for research purposes as being a commercial activity.
All drones must be registered for insurance purposes.
Pilots must adhere to the specific license conditions noted on their Remote Pilot License (RePL), including aircraft weight limitations.
CASA regulation requires any drone flights to piloted by a licensed pilot.
Contractors must operate under a Remote piloted aircraft Operators Certificate (ReOC).
