For healthier individuals, communities and populations
The UTS School of Public Health delivers innovative and practical teaching and learning, integrated with multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to tackle current and future complex global public and operational health challenges.
Our vision is to improve population health by training health professionals and researchers through world-leading education in public health, diabetes, Indigenous health, palliative care and health services management.
As a school, we understand that the world’s health needs are rapidly changing and growing in complexity. We strive to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, our populations and communities.
The school executive, led by Professor David Sibbritt, brings extensive experience in public health research and teaching across a range of disciplines.
UTS School of Public Health staff combine leading research expertise with real-world practice to advance health equity, shape policy, and train the next generation of public health professionals.
Our research themes
Our research is driven by our commitment to rigorous methodology and design, social justice and improved health and well-being for all.
Girra Maa is our Indigenous Health Discipline. The discipline aims to improve the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through quality education, research and engagement at individual, family, community and policy levels.
One driving force behind our wider research program is a desire to work inclusively with those from marginalised populations and communities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities) to help improve their health and health care.
Our research portfolio includes a strong focus upon investigating core issues relating to preventive health, ageing and chronic illness.
The School houses the only research group worldwide subjecting traditional, complementary and integrative medicine (TCIM) and health care to critical public health and health services research scholarship.
Many of the School's researchers are examining a wide range of women's and children's health issues providing insights around pregnancy and childbirth, early childhood health, menstruation and menopause, osteoporosis amongst other areas.
Many researchers in the School, especially in the Discipline of Health Services Management, are researching and evaluating the organisation of care, delivery of services, the practice of management in the health industry and a number of related health system and service issues.
