Inaugural Head of School of Public Health announced
Professor David Sibbritt has been appointed as the inaugural Head of the School of Public Health.
Professor David Sibbritt has been appointed as the Head of the School of Public Health.
Professor Sibbritt joined UTS in 2012 as the Foundation Chair in Epidemiology, and was appointed the Deputy Director of the Australian Research Centre in Complementary and Integrative Medicine (ARCCIM) the following year. More recently, he has been acting Discipline Lead Public Health and acting Director of the Australian Centre for Public and Population Health Research.
A renowned qualitative researcher, Professor Sibbritt’s research focuses on chronic illness, and in particular, on how people use self-care to treat chronic illnesses. He also has extensively researched primary health care and health services planning. He has produced over 300 peer-reviewed academic publications.
Professor Sibbritt is an associate editor of two international peer-reviewed journals. He is, and has been, a chief investigator on numerous National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council-funded projects.
David was awarded the Dean’s Academic Excellence Award for Leadership in 2017 (UTS) and was a finalist for the 2014 Alumni Medal for Professional Excellence (University of Newcastle).
