About the program

To the Owner (UTS Gallery, 8 September – 18 December 2026) is Alana Hunt's first institutional solo exhibition in Gadigal Nura/Sydney. Featuring new and recent works presented across film, photography, print and text, the exhibition is a defiant exposition of the cultural and social implications of property ownership, housing insecurity, and the ongoing impact of colonialism in contemporary Australia.

To the Owner's accompanying public program comprises a series of panel discussions, screenings, and artist performances across October – December 2026.

All programs are free, but bookings are essential. Learn more about the series and RSVP to each program below.

Who deserves a home?

With housing inequality continuing to rise, what factors shape our understanding of home, ownership and belonging?

Bringing together leading contemporary voices across housing law, policy, community leadership and advocacy, this panel discussion will explore some of the most pressing questions facing housing in Australia today. The expert panel will examine how experiences of home are shaped by legal, social and historical forces, including the enduring impacts of colonisation, and consider what a more just and equitable housing future could look like.

Join us for a timely conversation about housing, human rights and belonging, and the role they play in building a more democratic and inclusive society.

To the Owner (a possible impossibility)

During this hour-long session in the final month of Alana Hunt’s exhibition To the Owner, the artist and writer will reflect on the development of her ongoing project To the Owner (of multiple properties). Through research, anecdotes and reflections, Hunt will explore recent developments and emerging possibilities for this relational project, and consider how they connect to her broader artistic and writing practice.

Date: Thursday 3 December, 5.30pm–6.30pm
