About the BIT Co-op program
The Co-op program combines study with structured industry placements across your degree. The program structure includes:
- Up to $49,500 in financial support over 3 years (paid fortnightly)
- Enrolment in Bachelor of Information Technology Co-op (BIT Co-op) degree full time).
- Complete two (2) paid industry placements:
- One in the first year (6 months over spring session from July - Dec)
- Second in third year (6 months over autumn session from Jan - July)

First year
You’ll commence your studies with a range of subjects from your core Information Technology stream, learning about Professional Communication, Programming and Information and Web Systems. You’ll also complete your first professional placement as a part of Work Integrated Learning and also learn how to manage your IT career. -
Second year
Your second year will see you undertake your Software Studio, where you’ll learn how to design, develop and evaluate software for business use. You’ll also begin your sub-major as well as your secondary sub-major or IT elective units. -
Third year
In your final year, you’ll complete any unfinished subjects to prepare for graduation. You’ll also undertake another professional placement and a Work Integrated Learning capstone project, where you’ll identify a problem and create and deliver an innovative, IT-based solution.
The BIT ​Co-op ​program gave me the confidence to start something of my own. I’d already seen how technology could solve meaningful challenges, so founding a company felt achievable.
