We are rated well above the world standard for research in Nursing, Midwifery, Human Movement and Sports Science (rated as "5/5") and above the world standard for research in Public Health and Health Services, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Psychology and Cognitive Sciences (rated as "4/5") in the Federal Government's Excellence in Research Australia 2016-2018 review. Public and Allied Health Sciences in the Faculty of Health is also rated high in impact, engagement and approach to impact in the Australian Research Council’s Engagement and Impact Assessment 2019.

Our researchers are internationally respected leaders in a broad scope of disciplines including Nursing; Midwifery; Palliative Aged and Chronic Care; Public Health; Complementary and Integrative Medicine; Stuttering; Health Economics; Health Services ManagementSports and Exercise; Pharmacy; Clinical Psychology; Speech Pathology; Physiotherapy; Orthoptics; Genetic Counselling and Global health and development work.

INSIGHT (Institute for Innovative Solutions for Wellbeing and Health)

INSIGHT is the Faculty of Health's flagship institute. The institute creates sustainable models of care that make health and wellbeing more equitable and accessible for all. INSIGHT is the home of the Australian Stuttering Research Centre, the Centre for Health Research and Evaluation, IMPACCT, and the UTS WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Midwifery Health Development.

Our research facilities

UTS Health research facilities support cutting-edge discovery and learning in purpose-built environments. Designed to mirror real-world health settings, our advanced laboratories, simulation clinics, and collaborative spaces provide researchers and students with the tools to explore, test and translate new ideas into impactful outcomes for health and wellbeing.

Clinical simulation laboratories

Our clinical laboratories provide hands-on learning environments for nursing and midwifery students. With support from our clinical education team, you’ll have the resources you need to practise and refine your skills.

Sport and exercise facilities

Located in Moore Park, the UTS facility in the UTS-Rugby Australia Building is a groundbreaking hub for sport and exercise science, clinical exercise physiology and high performance sport education in Australia. Both the Sport and Exercise Science Telepractice Clinic and the Exercise Physiology Clinic operate from the Moore Park precinct.

Graduate School of Health facilities

The UTS Graduate School of Health (GSH) is home to one of Australia’s most exciting and comprehensive research facilities. This custom-built wet lab is housed in a brand-new, state-of-the-art building that facilitates world-leading pharmacy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, orthoptics and good manufacturing practice research.

UTS Psychology Clinic

The UTS Psychology Clinic is a not-for-profit teaching and research clinic that provides quality services to the community at a low cost.

UTS SPROUTS clinic

The Speech Pathology Reaching Out at UTS (SPROUTS) clinic facilitates students offering clinical services to children and adults with communication or swallowing support needs.

Kidman Centre

The Kidman Centre is dedicated to the understanding, prevention and reduction of mental health problems in young people aged 5 to 25.
