If an incident causing injury/illness, or a near-miss incident, occurs either on campus or on UTS business:
- Ensure persons injured receives first aid and/or medical treatment.
- Report the same day or within 24 hours of occurrence, by using the HIRO (Hazard and Incident Reporting Online) system.
Note: Incidents that happen off-campus (Australia or overseas) must also be reported.
Injury management
UTS staff members who seek medical treatment and/or who require time off work due to a work-related injury or illness may be entitled to lodge a claim for workers compensation.
The People Unit offers injury management and return to work assistance to staff for injuries sustained both at work and outside work (UTS staff access only).
Students and visitors to UTS are not entitled to lodge a claim for workers compensation, if an incident does occur contact UTS Insurance.
