How do I know if I'm suited to Residential Life?

Living in university residences is not suitable for everybody. From experience, the students who get the most out of living at UTS Housing are those who:

  • Are committed to achieving learning success and also prepared to be part of a residential community;
  • Enjoy making connections with people from diverse backgrounds, forming new friendships;
  • Respect the diversity in the residential community and understand that rules exist in the community for the benefit of every individual;

Yeah, it's a good opportunity to sit down with all your flatmates and your RNs and just get to know each other. I had a bit of a laugh with the RNs; the RNs were really friendly.

Yeah, I like flat meetings because it's good to get to meet your RN, get to meet your flatmates, and they lay down kind of the ground rules for the semester.

I like flat meetings because in a flat meeting we can speak out all the issues and solve them together.

Flat meetings are a compulsory part of living in student housing. The aim of a flat meeting is to go through the general rules and how things work in housing, also to set up a cleaning roster for your apartment.

They are also your first chance to get to know your new RN and new flatmates.

Housing will be in contact with you during the first week of semester to organise a time for shared flats, and studios will be notified of group sessions, one of which they have to attend.

Flat meetings will run for roughly half an hour and all flat members have to be present for this. Thanks guys, and see you around housing.

What is provided for and what will I need to bring from home?

All Yura Mudang apartments are fully furnished but you will be required to bring linen, kitchen equipment and all personal items. Have a look at the different room types at Yura Mudang and click on the "facilities" link to check out what's included.

What if I have any special needs due to a disability?

It is best to let us know on your application form and we will then discuss your needs with you and allocate you to an appropriate room.

Are there any cleaning arrangements?

Common areas of apartments and studios are cleaned on a periodic basis as a complimentary service.
Once you've checked in, you will receive an email with the cleaning schedule.

Can I renew my Licence Agreement?

Yes, current residents may reapply to continue living at UTS Housing prior to the end of their current Licence Agreement. The following are considerations when Residents’ applications are reviewed:

Reasons for wanting to continue living at UTS Housing and involvement in the residential community.

  • Overall length of stay at UTS Housing. Due to the limited availability of UTS accommodation proportionate to UTS student population, residents are able to continue living at UTS Housing for approximately 2 years.
  • History of residency including academic progress, financial payment and disciplinary records.
  • Special needs or extenuating circumstances.
