• MyPlacement

  MyPlacement is the system we use to track your placements throughout your Master Program. Once you have enrolled into your subjects you will be able to log into MyPlacement. 

  Students must upload all required documents to MyPlacement and then contact the Clinical Placement team for review. Once the Clinical Placement team has completed its review, documents are sent to NSW Health for assessment. 

  The outcome report will indicate the status as:

  • "Compliant"
  • "Temp Compliant" or
  • "Not Compliant."

• Vaccinations

  Refer to NSW Health Policy Directive for Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (PDF).

  Refer to Graduate School of Health Clinical Compliance Checklist (PDF).

  As per NSW Health and Graduate School of Health policy, students must complete all vaccination requirements in order to be eligible to undertake clinical placements. If you need assistance, contact the Clinical Placements Team GSHClinPrac@uts.edu.au

  Adult Vaccination Record card

  Download Vaccination Record card for Category A workers and students (PDF).

  The vaccination record card must be completed by a medical practitioner, containing (where possible) the brand and batch number of each vaccine as well as an official stamp and signature from the medical practitioner / provider. Each card entry must have a clinic stamp and/or provider number. For more information, see NSW Health Immunisation video (with closed captioning).

  Immunisation History Statement

  Download your Immunisation History Statement for proof of vaccinations

  As this doesn’t document your serology results, you will also need to attach a copy of your results (see checklist for more information) 

  IMPORTANT: Redact or black out Individual Healthcare Identifiers (IHI) numbers on AIR Statements before sending

  Important: As it may take several months to complete the full course of vaccinations, students are advised to consult the UTS Health Service or their local doctor as soon as they receive their offer.

  Flu vaccination

  Annual influenza vaccination is mandatory for all clinical students attending placement. Flu season runs from 1 June and 30 September each year. 

  Students must receive the current year’s southern hemisphere influenza vaccine registered for use by the TGA, which is made available in March each year.

  And email GSHClinPrac@uts.edu.au confirming you have uploaded the correct evidence

• Police check

  Refer to NSW Health Policy Directive PD2019_003 Working with Children Checks and Other Police Checks (PDF).

  All students enrolling in courses that involve clinical placements are required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check and comply with other policy requirements (as above).

  Students must have a National Police Certificate from an organisation accredited by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) with no listed convictions.

  If a charge or conviction is listed on the National Police Check, students must apply for a risk assessment (PDF).

  Overseas students are required to provide both a National Criminal Record Check and a National Police Check from their home country or any country or countries they have resided in since turning 18 years of age. If not able to provide the international police check, students can sign the Overseas Student Statutory Declaration (PDF). • Working With Children’s Check

  All students undertaking a clinical placement in a child-related work environment must obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC). These are valid for 5 years from the day it is processed. Students who already hold a WWCC do not need to apply for a new one unless it expires during the course.

  Once received, please upload evidence, and indicate your WWCC number and expiry on MyPlacement under the Checks tab.

  Applying

  Apply for this check via the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian.

  Step 1

  • Complete the online application form as soon as you have accepted your offer.
  • Apply as a volunteer (If you apply as a Volunteer there is no application fee).

  Step 2

  Visit a Service NSW Office to verify your identity. Your application can't be finalised until you take this step. Find out which documents they accept.

  Step 3

  You will receive your check within 4 weeks.

• ClinConnect and AHPRA Registration

  In order to facilitate clinical placements in NSW Public Health Facilities and other placement systems such as MyPlacement (Sonia), SPOT, ACT Placements Online, InPlace and PlaceRight, you are required to consent to specific information being entered into ClinConnect and onto the Student Register by completing the forms outlined in the Graduate School of Health Clinical Compliance Checklist.

  Clinical Psychology only

  Prepare the paperwork required for provisional registration with AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia.

  Do NOT submit your application for provisional registration to AHPRA until Professional Skills Week.

  To complete your application, the Graduate School of Health will provide a confirmation of enrolment letter directly to AHPRA. The enrolment letter will be sent in early February, during Professional Skills Week, once all students have enrolled and commenced.

  Genetic Counselling only

  In order to facilitate clinical placements in NSW Public Health and ACT Facilities you must complete the forms:

  • TrakGene UserAccess Request Form
  • Privacy Undertaking Form
    Please download these forms from the School Documents tab in MyPlacement, then upload the completed forms to your Documents tab in MyPlacement.

• Uniform

  Not required for Clinical Psychology or Genetic Counselling.

  You are required to wear the official UTS Graduate School of Health uniform while on clinical placement and during simulated placement activities. You must appear neat, tidy and professional at all times while on placement and travelling to/from placement.

  • The uniform for Pharmacy and Orthoptics consists of a tailored shirt, which must be paired with black corporate-style pants or skirts. While Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology are required to wear a polo shirt.
  • Shoes should be comfortable and comply with occupational health and safety requirements. They must be black, full enclosed, non-slip, low-heeled, non-canvas shoes. Sport-style footwear is not suitable for placements, with the exception of Physiotherapy.
  • Long hair must be tied back firmly above the collar. A ‘bun’ rather than a long ponytail is preferred. Moustaches and beards must be trimmed and tidy.
  • Minimal jewellery is permitted.

  You are responsible for ensuring that your clothes are laundered and ironed for the duration of your placement. Personal grooming is important in the workplace. You are advised to use deodorant. Please be mindful of the perfume/aftershave you wear to ensure that it is not too overwhelming.

  Ordering Uniform

  Uniforms will be made available to purchase from the UTS store on campus and online. Further information will be sent to you upon your enrolment in the course.

• Name Badges

  Not required for Clinical Psychology.

  Name badges are required to be worn with UTS uniforms by students on placement.

  Name badges will be provided to you during Professional Skills Week. Please ensure you keep this badge in a safe place. You’ll need to use it for each placement throughout your degree. 

  Replacement name badges are available from the Graduate School of Health Reception, located in Building 20 on Level 8. 

  Replacement name badges will incur a fee of $10. You can pay via this link and collect from Reception.
