Sustainable 3D printing with the ever-versatile Nylon-12, producing strong parts, complex assemblies, with a high-quality finish.

HP Jet Fusion 5200

Our is responsible for producing the majority of printed parts at ProtoSpace. Its versatility attracts users across disciplines, and has manufactured parts for product design, biomedical, robotic, rocketry, automotive, and many other applications.

Printed Nylon-12 parts are solid, strong, have balanced mechanical properties, is watertight, and can print complex assemblies when designed accordingly.

Due to its uniquely sustainable print process, only model areas are fused. After printing, the sizable build chamber contains many solid model parts within loose nylon powder. After excavation of parts, 80% of powder can be reclaimed for reuse.

Binding agents are deposited onto model sections over plastic powder. Heat lamps fuse model areas, thereby creating solid parts within loose, raw powder.

After printing, cooling is required before manual post-processing.

Parts are then excavated from the build as a vacuum recovers loose powder for reuse. Then parts are bead blasted, washed, and dried.
