Which degree are you studying? What year are you in? 1st year, Bachelor of Laws
What led you to choose UTS for your studies in Law? This was one of the only universities I know of which offers straight law at an undergraduate level.
What influenced your decision? The fact that I could do a straight law degree.
How have your studies at UTS helped you in finding a career path? I have found that studying law at UTS has helped me by giving me the basic knowledge required to work in the legal profession. It will also help me through the various networks available through the Faculty of Law.
Are you working while studying? No, but I have a summer internship with the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills which I will start this summer break. There are really no demands while studying because I will be working in my break.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your degree? I think the most rewarding aspect of studying my degree is being a role model to other young Indigenous students who want to study at university. Also being a role model to my younger siblings by showing them that university is an option for when they finish school.
What sort of work do you hope to be doing after you graduate? When I finish my degree I hope to be successful and working in Indigenous Rights.
What is the most useful thing you have learned from your degree so far? How demanding a career in law can be.
Has anyone in particular at the University had a significant influence on your studies? Jumbunna IHL has played a very significant role over this year because they have been a big support with housing and networking.
What would your advice be for someone who is looking at studying Law at UTS? I would advise someone who is looking to study law at UTS to do it if they’re really interested in the course. Weigh up your options, and if it feels right for you, do it.
